We staying in the Old Town Hostel for 2 weeks in total and really enjoyed our time there. We had a standard double room - it was nothing fancy but the room was modern, clean and whitewashed with a comfy bed, desk with chairs and shelves which were really useful during our stay. The staff were all very welcoming and...

I stayed a week solo in this hostel. The hostel is quiet, CLEAN, and comfortable; the shared bathroom is always clean (Even sometimes I wondered if I'm the only one who enters =D). Also the hostel is considered very cheap for it's location. The location is perfect, U bahn is 5 mins walk, the tram pass right in front of...

It's very slightly out of the main tourist hub of the centre of the city which I really liked as you can eat...

Tram stop M12 (Raumerstraße) in front of the hostel and U-Bahn station Eberswalder Straße 2 tram stops or 10 minute walk away. I didn't realize this hostel provided single rooms. My room was clean and comfortable, and the bed comfortable as well. Great location in Prenzlauer Berg with many restaurants, shops, and markets close by. Kulturbrauerei is very close by. Highly recommend.

We stayed in a triple room. It had everything we needed: comfortable beds, fresh towels and duvets and a hair dryer. The shared toilets were very clean and we never had to wait. Hot water worked perfectly. It is very well located close to Mauerpark and there's plenty of cool restaurants and bars around, but the street is quiet. There's...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
