Apart from that, standard Ibis hotel in a very convenient location, just a few minutes from the central train station. My room was overlooking the tracks yet quiet with just some train station tannoy announcements in the distance. Free luggage storage.

I was looking for a cheap and cheerful hotel to use as a base for a visit to the region - and that's what I got. Friendly, helpful staff, a comfortable, clean and quiet room, decent sized breakfast and a very reasonable price.

We needed overnight accommodation in Essen and the Ibis seemed to fit the bill, as we were arriving by train and wanted to be close to the city centre. We were pleased to find that the hotel was only a few minutes walk from the main station and check-in was a quick and friendly process. Our room was better than...

Close to Essen Hauptbahnhauf. Very clean. Possibility to drink beer. Ask for rooms on the street and not on the railway ! Good location for a short stay at Essen, whatever the purpose (business or holiday)

Several of us travelled for business purposes and stayed in this hotel and we all had the exact same question over dinner "how small is your bathroom?" and the comment "I don't think I can even sit on the toilet!". The bathrooms are tiny! With that said, the room was clean and adequate. The two single beds were pushed together,...

The hotel is well-situated for access to the city centre, the station and offices nearby (my meeting was just on the other side of the station). However the rooms are very small and the walls very thin so your sleep will be easily disturbed, as mine was, by other guests making noise in the corridors or in their rooms -...

This would have been 4 or 5 stars if it were not for the RIDICULOUSLY cramped bathroom. I could honestly not sit on the toilet without my knees banging the wall! This hotel has a great location five minutes from the hauptbahnhof, secure car parking if you need it, very comfy bed, excellent buffet breakfast, typical Ibis value and pleasant...

Very convenient location. Very small room but clean. When we had paid, we saw that we paid 6 breakfasts instead of 4 and when we told it, we had a lot of difficulties to get back our money and the person who I spoke at the phone was very unfriendly. The experience of staying there was not so good for...

Ibis Essen is just across to the central train station - approx. 200m. Very convenient location close to Downtown, many enterprises (Evonik, E.on, RWE) and public transportation. Comparatively quiet and good noise-insulated windows (even when facing the rail tracks). It's a budget hotel (officially 2 star category). Rooms are comparatively new, are basic but offer all you need. Comfortable beds....

If traveling for business and not for pleasure: OK The room is very small (I'm ok with that) and not well maintained (not ok with that) - washroom not impeccable to say the least. Service and staff are ok - most of them are very professional some of them, not so much. Breakfast is a well laid-out self service with...
