We had two meals here in last few days and both times the food and service was great. The second meal was with 10 people and the server was great. The bar man went out of his way to find me a specific drink, although he could not find it he tried hard without any problems. Thoroughly recommend.

We had the most delicious Sunday lunch, fantastic price and excellent service. Roast dinner with choice of 3 meats with delicious desserts that were homemade and truly scrummy. Really friendly bar staff.

Very friendly, lovely rooms and excellent service what more could you ask for. We book a table for the evening and the food was lovely well presented - the waitress could not do enough for us. Will be back in the summer with our dog.

Took too long to serve each course. Some people had finished before others had started - this was for all 3 courses - perhaps you need a bigger oven or more staff to cope with a large group? Vegetables were brought out 10 minutes before main course and got cold. Portion size was small - especially for a Xmas dinner,...

We discovered The Mitre online whilst doing some research about the Witheridge area and what a find. I am pleased to report all that Tripadvisor says is true and more. Not only do you receive a warm welcome from Andy the Landlord but the pub dog Demi welcomes you too! The ales (Exmas/Gold) both on hand pumps are well kept...

Only an overnight break but we had a warm welcome, lovely room, great night's sleep and excellent breakfast. We popped into the friendly bar when we came in after a night with friends and admired the food/drink menus. Love to come back...

The meal was very good, the staff were friendly and helpful. There was two real ales on tap, my wife was happy with the wine list (which takes some doing) and the kids more than happy with their puddings. We shall definitely be going back again.

Our stay here was so good for our short 3 night break that are planning a pre Chrimbo return. Andy and Barbara were great hosts, as were the staff, with a special nod to Karen. Breakfast lovely and dinner each night was fantastic, be it Brill, Venison, pork or proper pie with shortcrust pastry. I particularly liked the parsnip mash...
