Do not come without a car (we had a rental) ... Nothing is in walking distance.
Nice view of the mountains. The place used to have a boardwalk but is has not been kept...
A car is a must as Estaponia is about 8 miles away and really best for eating out although there is a beach bar about three miles away
The weather was terrible but apartment very spacious and clean
Not much to do this time of year
The TV had no English stations at all which did not help for the evenings we stayed in. You have to pay 5 Euros a day for internet in the room. The pool allocated to our apartment was closed for the 3 week duration we where there –they were building a small toilet during peak season. Be careful of the car parking as the ramps are very steep and wallop the car underneath when you drive out. You are asked when you arrive to buy a privilege card for 30.00 to use the facilities. (Spa, Golf, Restraints 20% discount). I never bought this as I was supposed to have this already included. I booked through Click and Go. Children are not allowed to use the indoor pool. This was never stated to me and my daughter was very disappointed by this as she wanted to go swimming in the evenings. The pool area bar was closed for some time but opened before we left to come home. There is an average of 6-8 beds per pool its not enough if another family is already there.
The rooms are very spacious and well contained. The Patio area is very small we never got the sun and this was a Hugh disappointment for me. However you get over these things.
We had miss-fortune of been burgled while we went out one evening. I was upset as my I pad and Mobile phone and some personal items where stolen. The reception area was closed so the security guard had to look after us. It closes at 9pm the security guard had to move us to another apartment and I must say was extremely kind to us. When we looked at our new apartments doors and windows the sitting room doors had been previously pampered with, needless to say I never sleep properly after this.
However when we reported this to the receptionist next morning I was shocked at her lack of sympathy and didn’t give a toss attitude. We where informed that this has never happened before!! We could not use the room that was burgled and had to wait 3 days for forensics to come out as it was the weekend!! The police gave us the impression that this happens all the time. They where right as 4 days later we went to the local beach and bingo we saw our car been burgled. My husband nearly caught him thank god he didn’t. We were left feeling gutted.
I was totally distraught as my daughter’s purse and I pod where taken which was hidden in the car. We returned to the receptionist in our resort and I guess we looked a sore sight as we were all crying and pretty shuck up... I have never encountered such rudeness and we felt she could have been a bit more understanding as we had been through all this before and our kids very very upset. We were offered 2 bottle of water for four people need I say more!!
I have to say the rudeness of the receptionists here stunned me and my family. The lack of security here is worrying as it is a large complex with many exits and no cameras in view any where. Also I have noticed that at all previous trip advisors comments it’s the Spanish ones that give it a glowing review. I would never return here.
As a family we have traveled around the world to different places and stayed in some lovely hotels had some incidents happen but they were handled and sorted very quickly and we were satisfied in the past coz of this we didn't need to complain but on arrival to albayat beach we walk thru what appeared to be a lovely hotel with our youngest son whom is 2yrs and on entrance a water feature on either side left and right running down a glass wall into a pond! Right side on entrance had a carcass of a dead bird which oblivious wasn't seen by owners or management and the other side a pond of fish, more to the point we noticed whilst talking at reception our toddler was able to fit thru the wooden bannister rail of the water feature to see what was in the water scary moment as it was clear he cud of fell in and seen a dead caucus proven a point,
The hotel is 5mins off the highway and if u don't drive this place wouldn't be suitable ,they also have apartments which are some distance to get to as they are on the opposite side of the highway and u have to drive unto the round about to get to. You will have to go to hotel on arrival first to check in and get keys for apartment and gates. On arrival I checked out the pool which wasn't clean and in the apartment there was a sofa bed which the sheet wasn't changed and sheets stained and wouldn't dare put my child in to sleep but we informed the hotel reception and this was difficult as there is no direct line to call reception but had to drive to hotel and this was a pain!! The pool wasn't cleaned next morn and our son had snuck out on arrival to have a swim only to be rushed of to the hospital in Marbella and then off to malaga hospital as Marbella thought our son had suspected pendisitus and may needed to operate but on arrival to malaga hospital we seen the specialist and he said it wasn't but in fact bacteria bug due to a dirty pool etc! We approached the hotel about the linen not been changed and the fact the apartment was very dusty and also the pool hadn't been clean in the two days we had been there and we ended up in a&e in 2 different hospitals .the lady reception refuted our complaint and because our complaints weren't excepted and dealt with at all it spoilt our stay and as time thru our holiday got on we discovered few more things that prove that this place wasn't at all toddler safe, garden lights blew over by the night winds exposing the wires which weren't checked . The pool was cleaned the 2nd week even though it were windy ,pool gates weren't locked and u are responsible for ur kids /toddlers as the pool isn't for toddlers and must be supervised at all time as the dept of the pool scary for when young kids who can't swim and if the kids slipped or fell in the pool it could be fatal!!
The apartment was well equipped and we we satisfied as there was only one restraint within walking distance along the storey beach catering for our selves was vital, eating out for six was expensive and we took advantage of the fact lidl and Aldi and carrefour were within driving distance but not walking as the apartment was on the dual carriageway , in a sum up the albayat apartment resort Is not suited for a young family with toddlers and there are no other restraunts nearby just only one off the beach and a bit pricy as a sirloin steak can cost from €18 , the apartment plex is more suited for traveler on way to Gibraltar As a stop over, we very upset with the resort for refuting our complaints and made our complaints to our travel agency clickandgo go who said they got a handler to look into our complaints and that the hotel refutes the points in my letter of complaints and clickand go .com refuse to comment on there view even though they introduce holiday resorts to the public I would say in a nut shell if u are a golfer that is the place to stay but not for a family like us thus further to insult us the hotel accused one of our kids of vomiting in the apartment on our departure nice so I wouldn't recommend either click and go as they don't check the place out themselves but use a handler there or a hotel who refuses to accept complaints and the female receptionist is arguementive arrogant and rude & welcoming or helpful I hope no other young family like us will have the same bad experiencethus this resort not suitable for those who don't drive as the town is far away and dual carriageway have no paths ans beach isn't a sandy beach that kids can play but infraction a stoney beach that ain't easy to walk on,
Firstly the location, it really is quite secluded and off the main road. There is little around and walking anywhere of interest isn't really an option. After checking in at the main reception, our apartment was a further 5 minute drive away. This wouldn't be a problem, unless you are experiencing issues. In which case, it becomes a bit of a frustrating endeavour.
The apartment itself was lovely... 10 years ago. It seems little has been done to maintain it, more that it's barely liveable so that it can be rented out. The air conditioning would only work for 2 hours, and even on the coldest setting was barely effective. The beds were about as uncomfortable as one could imagine. Sleeping on the couch was more comfortable. our front door seemed to have a particularly difficult lock to open it. Whether this was intentional or a faulty key, we were never actually shown or explained this, even when requesting, so getting into the apartment was an activity in itself.
After being given 2 different wifi passwords, both of which didn't work, we gave up all together. Bearing in mind the main reception didn't answer the phone so it was a journey back each time, this was rather infuriating. Additionally, we were told that the spa wasn't open, and were not told that our keys would only access certain pools. Do bear in mind that this is an enormous complex with 7 different blocks and 7 different pools. The one pool we eventually found was padlocked and our keys wouldn't work so we gave up.
This may have just been bad luck with the apartment, the staff not being on their best form that day (and the next and the next), but this is not somewhere we would stay again. I would encourage anyone considering staying here to explore other properties in Estepona or ask lots of questions about the quality of the apartment and the fixtures/amenities. And be sure to stock up on plenty of food and water, as there's nowhere around for a while.
3 spacious bedroom one ensuite 2 with balconies
Kitchen with dishwasher washing machine and balcony
Sun terrace on 3rd floor
Unground parking
All tastefully decorated
Swimming pools a little boring as no inflatables allowed
Spa was over priced so we didn't use
Breakfast was awful just go self catering we only used twice as so bad
If staying go to Benahavis for dinner exceptional restaurants such as Molino Del Conde we wanted to try los albinos but it was full on the Wednesday so worth booking
Best beach was playa la rada and there were great places to eat here too there is a Lidel to the right and an Aldi to the right
Supermarkets and restaurants are all 5mins away. Beaches all over the place.
I think it's safe to say that this will be my first and last visit as there is nothing here and the bar opposite the apartment is closed and doesn't look like it will be opening anytime soon. Even if the resort put a shuttle on for the guests once or twice a day would be a big help. Thank goodness for WiFi and Netflix
