Hotel's Favourite
Kempinski trip advisor
In true kempinski style, we had such a lovely time here. Came away with my mum for a 9 night stay, and as a platinum member I have stayed at a large number of kempinski’s across the globe, and is my favourite brand.
We were greeted with warmth from the get go, starting with Olaf at reception, and were truly looked after. All of the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, service with a smile, but a special thank you goes to Bianca, the lady in red, who truly made our stay extra special. She is an asset to not just your hotel but the brand as a whole. Great sense of humour, and always gave a warm smile and a little chat whenever she saw us. It felt like we were staying with family.
Nothing was a problem for the hotel, it was very unfortunate I fell ill (not the hotel’s fault!) but the hotel brought up honey, lemon and ginger, and even went out to get some paracetamol for me, and I made a recovery after a few days.
In the morning, breakfast has a huge selection of various foods, presented beautifully, with warm and welcoming staff. In particular, the lady who serves freshly made omelettes (I didn’t catch her name!) was always so happy and a delight! Some of the days (although not every day) we were given a chilled health drink which was a really nice touch.
We were lucky as we came away in September, so there weren’t that many kids, but the pool has an adults only area which should be in all hotels - it was lovely and quiet and nice to get away from the few squawking kids that were there.
The grounds of the hotel are lovely and well kept. The restaurant was closed so we had to rely on the Spiler beach club for dinner, and we got room service a few times as I wasn’t feeling well. The room service menu is rather limited but the food on there is delicious! Food in general at the hotel was a little pricey for what it is (higher than London prices) but was top-notch nonetheless.
The spiler beach club was a bit confusing as it had a fairly empty area that was for non-residents only (a strange concept), I heard that the club is separate however it’s on all of the hotel materials so I never quite understood what was going on there.
There’s a little boutique shop on premises which sells little bits and some clothes.
The housekeeping staff work incredibly hard and our room was made beautifully and spotless every day. The hotel is incredibly clean and their work is faultless. They were always so friendly when we ran into each other!
It would have been nice to have pool service as there were a number of staff hanging around the pool areas seemingly not doing anything (they may have been lifeguards, I’m not sure), and other kempinskis I’ve been to have had staff on hand roaming around the pool areas to see if you need drinks or snacks etc, so if I had one critique it would be this. It’s just a little nice touch of convenience.
However, it didn’t detract from our stay as it was made up by the impeccable service elsewhere.

Dear Jordan, Thank you for your recent stay at our hotel and for taking the time to share your experience with us in tripadvisor. It is a real pleasure to read through your feedback and to learn that you have enjoyed your vacation here in Estepona. I would like to thank you for your detailed review full of compliments regarding our property but in particular for your warm comment about our dedicated staff and your special mentions to Olaf and Bianca our Lady in Red, this is always a great motivation for all of us, please rest assured that I will share with them your recognition. Your unlimited recommendation score is highly appreciated. However, we noticed your proactive comments regarding our food and beverage options and your service suggestion at the pool area, this gives us the opportunity to enhance our service further as it is our main aim, now is our time to not miss this opportunity. Thank you for that. We are looking now to have the opportunity of welcoming you back soon to Andalusia, until then, best regards from "Costa del Sol". Gerardo Canivell Front Office Manager

We returned to this hotel for a week at the end of June/beginning of July and we’re very pleased we did. We could not have asked for more.
The relaxed atmosphere, discreet and charming service and top class facilities make it a great choice for those who want to enjoy a chilled time but still be able to dip in and out of the bright lights of Marbella.
Our room on the 6th floor was large & very comfortable with a nice garden/sea view. Our only comment would be that it was lacking sunshine on the balcony. Housekeeping was great.
We enjoyed our days around the pools. No rushing up to reserve sunbeds here, they are plentiful with sun umbrellas & on soft, carpet like grass. Food and drinks are served to the sunbeds and the Haagen Daas ice cream cabin is a great idea.
We were disappointed that Baltazar was not open during our stay but Spiler beach restaurant is excellent with a varied menu and great service. The sardines & boquerones starter ‘special’ was delicious.
Breakfast had all the hallmarks of a Kempinski buffet - loads of variety, excellent quality, plentiful and with great service.
We wish you a great summer Kempinski and we will return.

All in all, we had a great stay at Kempinski Bahia. We will very likely return and we would like to suggest you a few improvements to make the whole experience of your guests really a 5 star one, which, at the moment, is still lacking in some respects.
We would first like to compliment beautiful surroundings of the hotel, especially the gardens and the pool area. Also the location, perfectly situated next to the beach walk to Estepona on one side and Marbella on the other. Additionally, we were impressed by the breakfast offer. The offer was wide, fresh, healthy and diverse. The service and drinks selection and Spiler and Black Rose bar were excellent, we cannot comment dining experiences as we only enjoyed drinks there.
The staff of the hotel is friendly and helpful, however, one really needs to be persistent. For example, on day one, we arrived to the hotel and the lady on the reception was very friendly, however, slightly in a hurry. She forgot to mention several things to us, for example, a 100 euro voucher for all additional services, free welcome cocktails etc. In order to use the voucher, we had to remind the staff on the last day of the stay, when paying the bill, otherwise it would have been forgotten. In a 5-star hotel, it should not be up to the guest to take care of such matters.
Furthermore, we also had to request the drinks vouchers. After the reminder, they were kindly and promptly delivered, however, again, for a 5 star experience, guests should not be the ones reminding the reception. Therefore, we believe that guests, at this moment, do not get to experience full 5 stars when it comes to the hotel services.
The following experience further confirms my point; before our stay, we received an email whether we have any specific wishes. We are passionate hikers so we mentioned we would really appreciate some recommendations regarding the local walks, paths and hikes. Upon the arrival and during our stay, there was no mention of that whatsoever. Again, not a 5-star experience.
Furthermore, our suite had a jacuzzi on the terrace. After a few days, the jacuzzi and the terrace became dirty, which is completely reasonable, since there were wind, swallows nesting on the roof and also some rain. Our suite always got cleaned very neatly and thoroughly, which we greatly appreciate. However, our terrace remained dirty and water became unclear. We had to request cleaning of the terrace and water replacement, which, at the end, was performed perfectly, however, again, it should not be the responsibility of a guest to remind the hotel staff about the cleaning.
All in all, because of beautiful surroundings, nice suite, kind staff and amazing breakfasts, our stay was very good. However, to make our next stay a 5-star experience, several improvements need to be done.

I arrived with my wife on the 30th December, the main entrance could not be used due to the party that they organized for new year eve, we had to go through an emergency exit door... The diner was organized in the lobby meaning that there is no lobby facility on the 30th and the 31st December. In order to go to your room you have to sneak between tables. I booked a deluxe double room with garden view, once we arrived in our room the beds were separated and I had a direct view on a wall... on the 31st I wanted to have a drink before going out, impossible all the restaurants and bars are privatised for the new year eve... I visited few kempinsky hotels in Europe such as Munchen, Vienna and Geneva and it is the first time I am disappointed with Kempinski hotel. To conclude this kempinski is not on the same level with the others I visited.

We arrived on 26th December to 2 nd January. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Given our room and facilities explained. We put items in the safe and could not get in open, several attempts by staff to open failed, in end it had to be forced out of the closet, leaving us without a room safe. We were not given the option to move or even told about other safe facilities, it was only when the housekeeper came to hover up we were informed of safe deposits at reception and it was her who enquired for one for us. This was a off-putting as each time you wanted to get anything it would involve going to reception and then into the safe room to retrieve items, so we just locked out valuables in our case and just put passports in reception safe. During our stay the main lobby bar/ facilities was out of use due to extravagant functions on, the worst being New Year’s Eve celebrations. There were no bar or restaurants available to you unless you paid €230 or €330 pp for their gala balls, it meant we had to leave the hotel to go to Estepona old town to try find a restaurant which unfortunately for us we could not. On our arrival back on New Year’s Eve we had to either go through the party or use alternative method to get to our room. From speaking to guests they were not happy with the set up as they were placed at tables with non- English speaking guests which meant for a communication barrier, not what you need to celebration. , perhaps you should re-think the bill shows theme, after all its not about props and nice displays but people actually enjoying themselves, less is more. On checking out when I asked for the bill we were not even asked if we enjoyed our stay or if everything was ok, in Ireland if you stay in a hotel that is the first thing your are asked on checking out. On the plus side the breakfast staff were very attentive and friendly.

If you don't have any issues with your room you should have a nice time at this hotel. I stayed at the Kempinski Hotel Bahia for 4 nights. I notified reception after my first night that the air conditioning wasn't working in my room and that a reading light above the bed activated multiple times during the night by itself. The heat and the light were disturbing. I also notified the hotel manager and other hotel employees of the problems. The hotel never offered to change my room. Took two days for the a/c to be repaired and finally on the fourth night the light was disconnected. After repairing the a/c, no one followed up to ensure that the room was cleaned from fallen ceiling debris, dirt, and plaster. There was no follow up at the hotel to confirm that the issues were addressed until the last evening. Very disappointing. This is an expensive hotel and the Kempinski should have reduced the amount I paid given these conditions In my opinion, go to a different 5 star hotel which values their guests.

We had the Presidential suite for our family.
Good size with complimentary minibar and car hire.
The room service staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault them.
The room was a bit tired (ripped unmatched furniture)
Had ant issues that we reported
Some of the lights were out or flickered.
Fake flowers
The room is a bit tired and needs renovation.
Not all the pools were open. This should have been pointed out to us when we booked, this holiday wasn’t cheap.
Also, the grumpy pool attendant was bit keen to close the pool at 5pm and the bar service around the pool was poor at best.
The hotel is lovely and staff, on a whole, are brilliant.
I’ve given this place a 3. This reflects the price we paid. If it was half the price it would have been a 4.
We ordered room service for one of our meals and this came 6/6 (last) of all the restaurants we’d been to on our stay here. Saying that, it was still good food, it’s just that other restaurants scored better. Plan B took the honours.

We booked a 4 night stay at Kempinski at the end of our trip around Andalusia. Our room was very comfortable with plenty storage, a bath and seperate shower cubicle, and balcony with great views over the Mediterranean. The hotel was very quiet with it being not quite summer season yet so some facilities were limited. Lunch and dinner were only available at Spilers Beach Club- the same menu for both but good food and service albeit quite pricey (could charge to your room). Snacks available at the hotel bar. Pool bar didn’t open until 16th June but you could get drinks from Spilers and there was also a barboy taking orders at sunbeds. One pool was closed but the others were fine for swimming, very quiet and not overly cold (24 degrees). The breakfast buffer offered lots of choice including lovely fresh fruit and omelettes made to order. Hotel staff were all fantastic and service was always excellent. We were a little disappointed at the limited dining choices on site but front desk made dinner reservations for us in Estepona and both were excellent (taxi about 10€ each way). Only other negative was that there didn't appear to be much attempt to tidy up the sunbed area at the end of each day - we found ourselves picking up litter and empty bottles etc every morning before settling down for the day.
In summary, a relaxing stay in an excellent hotel - just what we needed.

Kempinski Hotel Bahia is advertised as follows:
The hotel has five redesigned Restaurants and Bars, the elegant yet laid-back Baltazar Bar & Grill, the stunning Black Rose The Bar in the lobby, the stylish Spiler Beach Club (seasonal) as well as El Mirador (breakfast with a view) and the traditional Spa.
We booked again having previously had a couple of great experiences. Sadly we were extremely disappointed to find just one lunch/dinner restaurant open in the Spiler Beach Club/Bar - quite pricey for a beach bar with limited 'same' menu on offer throughout our stay. Happy to pay for quality dining so were obliged to travel by taxi into Estepona and Porto Banus to find more discerning restaurants. The Black Rose Bar menu was extremely limited (burgers/wraps/sandwiches) so could not be used as an alternative dining experience.
Beds and room service/cleanliness of all facilities above standard. Staff throughout extremely friendly and engaging.
Surprised to find that on day one when we sat on the sunbeds in the Spiler area we were told that they were for the public and not hotel residents as Spiler Beach Club was a separate entity to the hotel- but if we wanted to use them we would be charged 49 euros per person/per bed/per day! Throughout our stay these 'posh' sun beds remained mostly empty.
Access into/out of the pool for anyone with mobility issues is also of concern due to lack of high hand rails.
Sadly having previously experienced the 'special' dining experience of the Baltazar restaurant which was not available to us we would no longer rate this as a 5* hotel. Apparently restaurants are closed ad hoc to worth checking when you book.

Dear Worldclass UK, At first, we would like to thank you for having chosen Kempinski Hotel Bahia Estepona for your recent stay at the Costa del Sol. At the same time, we wish to express our utmost apologies for any inconvenience you have experienced and it is with regret having to read that not all of your, and our own set expectations were fully met. We are also pleased to know that you had wonderful encounters with our staff members, as it is them who are able to make the difference in the experience our guests have at the end of the day. It goes without saying that we would have liked to impress you way more by our services during your stay and would once again like to apologize for the inconveniences you have experienced. In our opinion this hotel does not reflect the typical Kempinski brand and service. We booked through booking.com over 5k for 9 nights. We arrived late Sunday night, with 2 small children, tired to order room service but they said there is non after 11pm. Our suite is fairly dated but ok not a massive problem. Breakfast is nice and the staff there are nice. However, we sit at the children’s pool so we can be near the kids club, all the shades are either broken, too low or just lying on the grass. No waiter service to that pool either. We sit there as we have children. Also my father visits and at least to this pool there are only 50 stairs. The others pools there are more stairs. Do not stay here if you are disabled. It is so difficult with my baby pram. I complained about the lack of waiter service and no shades. The waitress just said there are not enough staff and the manager refused to come and discuss with me. So we moved down to the Spillers restaurant- it’s expensive and there we expect service! The waiter said to my son we must wait and there are a lot of people. It’s hot and crowded and the service is terrible for a 5 star hotel. One night we rang and asked for some cutlery to be brought to our room for our baby and they said wait for 45 minutes as they only have 1 room service staff. Another night our room service came and it was all cold and the chicken tough. The kids club is excellent and the only reason we have not left. Reception did not listen to me. I’ve messaged a number of times through booking.com and no response. Don’t waste your money. Check out the other 5 star hotels. This is dated, understaffed and definitely not what you would expect. We have travelled far and this is disappointing. Maybe Axel will message back now ? Let’s see.
