The hotel's facilities are excellent with lots of activities for all ages, especially around the large pool area. My family loved playing volleyball in the pool at 5pm.
The hotel bedrooms were spacious and thoroughly cleaned every day. Joining the H10 Club also entitles you to a couple of complimentary drinks at the bar. There is also excellent entertainment each evening.
Given that we make daily digital payments, I suggest that the hotel's Management remove the need to pay for the hiring of hotel towels and bikes in cash and accept card payments instead.
Other than this minor point, I would definitely recommend H10 Estepona Palace to my friends and family.
The super king size bed was very comfortable and we were provide with plenty of soft pillows. The a/c was easily controlled and didn't need altering during our stay The TV was fine and Sky News was available so that kept me happy. The quality of the furniture in the room was good [there was a drop down sofa and a comfy arm chair. A fridge was provided FOC. Regarding food we went for the H/B option which turned out to be a good choice. The breakfast's were very good with a large choice of options. Dinner [Buffet style] was also of a good standard with a large selection of options. A grille was also running at breakfast and dinner and the service excellent.
The public areas were large and well maintained and there was entertainment every evening which we enjoyed.
The pool area was large with many sunbeds and no rush to put towels out in the early morning. The beach was across the walkway at the rear of the hotel and all the sunbeds were for hotel guests at no extra charge.
The restaurant was large, much too bright and a bit school dinners. Dinner choice was limited and food generally cool, there is a microwave. Disappointed on the last evening there were no cakes on dessert table.
The Marina is a 25 minute walk away with the market around it each Sunday. The L1 bus which you can get outside the hotel to the left towards the petrol station will take you all around Estepona in a circle and bring you right back to where you got on for just over 1 Euro, well worth it. It was running on the hour while we were there.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and it was very relaxing.
Cleaning services was good, staff friendly. The view was really lovely, overlooking the hotel grounds and the sea. Beautiful.
Parking at the hotel is very bad, hardly any spaces, a tight squeeze. You can use the underground car park but will be charged €10 per night. Quite steep. The gardens and pool are nicely kept, life guards always on duty, you can also take the few steps down to the beach and use the hotel's sunbeds.
It was fairly quite, busier on the weekends, due to off season and Covid.
Hotel shop wasn't open. (probably because of reasons mentioned before)
Breakfast was ok, some fruits, bread, warm dishes.
Only had dinner here once. Very very mediocre, not a great choice neither was it very tasty.
Overall ok stay but had better.
You could borrow towels for 15 euros deposit, safe 4 euros, underground parking 15 euros per day.
Cleanliness for Covid I would say so so. Staff were all wearing masks. Clients had to wear masks while walking through the hotel or walking around the pool. Pool closed with a chain around it at a certain time in the evening, so making sure nobody got in I suppose without the life guard.
Entertainment in the evening which was good considering it was low season.
Cocktails in bar after 7 pm I think.
Room basic they provided two toiletries but clean.
Gym free, Spa 15 euros per person, no children allowed.
I have to say, lifeguards kept on disinfecting around the pool. But I did not see them disinfect the loungers (tumbonas, hamacas) and certainly did not see anyone clean the floors around the pool, there was a small dead bird for the 3 days we were there!
Cleanliness in cafeteria depending on the waiter, some disinfected some did not. Some waiters were nice others also were not.
We then decided to walk around the pool and beach area, we where shocked to see how close the sun loungers where beside each other (No social distancing) the pool area was too small for the amount people there. But worse than that we were disgusted at how dirty the sun loungers were and also areas around the pool.
We went onto the beach behind the hotel where there were sun loungers and umbrellas for use only by the hotel guests, they too were disgusting, in our opinion this dirt had been there not days not week but months, a power washer once a week would keep then clean from dirt and possible germs.
When we complained we were told Maybe they got dirty from the night before!!!
We decided we could not enjoy a two weeks holiday in this hotel and requested our money be returned.
It took three days with many discussions before they finally agreed to refund us but was only after we threatened to take legal action, but I had to sign a document stating I would not sue then in the future.
This is not a four-star hotel and definitely not a Palace, we would grade this hotel a two star.
PS. During are time there we took many pictures as proof
The staff throughout the hotel are so focussed on ensuring your happiness for a great holiday.
Our room was amazing and we loved the space and fittings. The best room we've ever had in over 18 years travelling in Spain & its islands.
We stayed HB and loved the choice on offer at mealtmealtimes. The option to dine á la carte was a special touch and we booked both nights during our week.
Activities were varied and we enjoyed the Spanish lessons with Jaime and Victor. Such patient, fun and engaging guys - muchas gracias😊
The pool area was relaxing and the beach sunbeds are a special extra.
Only a small pool was open and the large one doesn't open until Easter which was a shame.
Nightly entertainment was varied and we enjoyed most acts. Sadly Friday's act was so loud we and others left as the music drowned out any attempt at conversation.
Good location with local buses nearby. No shops or bars within walking distance which was unfortunate as we usually have an evening walk on other holidays.
We tried some of the cocktails but didn't detect any taste of alcohol. Not sure if they are pre-mixed as bar staff disappear out the back to make them. I paid €10 for a gin & mixer which shocked me!
We asked about upgrading to AI but declined as we were informed it would have been an extra €70 per day. We didn't feel that was justified.
We love H10 hotels and this is another we would return to at some time.
Unfortunately, beyond this it really didn’t feel 4-star. There is a really lovely lobby area with grand stairs leading down to the restaurants and pool, and that gives a great first impression, but scratch the surface and this is quickly eclipsed by the care the place needs to receive. There is a layer of mould around the edge of the pool which has discoloured the tiles that aren’t under the chlorinated waterline, there are cracks around the exterior of the building that would otherwise look so lovely. It all just needs a clean and a refurb in certain areas. Our room was a nice size to say it was a standard double, but the beds felt a bit flimsy and lightweight, and they moved around a lot when sitting on them or turning over in the night. The bathroom was equipped with all you’d need, plus full size wall mounted shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash and body milk which all smelt lovely. The shower was fine but it was over the bath which feels a bit dated, and the bottom of the shower screen fell off each day – it again just needs an update and a bit of money spent on it.
The sunbeds at poolside were of a great quality, but the ones on the beach were cheap and disgustingly dirty and we would not have laid on them if you’d paid me – not that we spent anytime sunbathing on the beach. We understood it to be sandy, but it’s more of a muddy gravel and just wasn’t pleasant and didn’t feel clean. The hotel doesn’t own this public beach so this is not their issue, but it is the beachfront to the hotel and there weren’t any sections of this beach to move along to that looked any better, so time spent on the sand and in the sea was quickly ruled out as being something we would be doing in our week’s stay.
On the upside, the entertainment each evening has been enjoyable, and the paella and sangria demonstrations held on two of the days were great fun and tasted amazing. The hotel were also very accommodating in supplying us with a big and varied take away picnic for breakfast as we were checking out very early.
Overall, we have had a nice week but it didn’t feel enjoyable enough to justify the £2100 we spent on being there and it’s not somewhere we will be going back to, which is a shame as the staff who work there – those you see and those you don’t – are all clearly doing an excellent job and work very hard.
