Average price if you think that you get a private room with a super clean toilet and breakfast included. The bath was very tiny but for a night staying I didn't need much more. The restaurant is right downstairs with a comfortable outside area. The hotel is in a good location to reach each part of the city.
Being four people walking the camino, it wasn't easy getting a hotel room in Oviedo on a Saturday night with some kind of festival going on in the city. But the receptionist at Ovetense proved to be a big help to us. If we wanted to share the bath between us, we could get two double rooms for 60 euro. Great deal. The rooms were not that big, but o.k., and placed almost across the cathedral, we weren't in a position to complain. The Ovetense is a fine three star hotel, I'd say.
I really loved my two stays in this hotel. The rooms are not too big, but big enough for two. I was afraid of the restaurant downstairs, that it will too noisy in the night as our rooms had windows on the street side. It wasn't. Even though my spanish is not OK, the staff was helpful and tried to to explain everything in very easy and slow spanish so that even I could understand, but don't be scared, the manager speaks english :-)
The room we had was tiny and dark. There barely enough room to walk around the bed, let alone unpack. The bathroom was similarly small and poorly ventilated. The "view" was of a minuscule courtyard and the extraction fans of the bar below the hotel, which wafted up a continuous odour of frying fat. It was well located (although it's almost impossible to park nearby) and the staff were friendly, but I would not stay here again.
A one night stop in Oviedo, between Santander and Lugo, Friday, the 29th of June 2012. A break far too short (two nights are at least necessary to enjoy all the town and the surroundings offer). The hotel is located right between the historical center (at the corner of La Plaza de la Catedral de San Salvador) and the new part of the town, on a pedestrian street. From the train/bus stations there is a 15/20 minutes walk, but with heavy luggage, a taxi cab can be some 5 Euros. The entrance of the hotel is very narrow, (shared with the one of the bar) but has a 24 hours desk. Polite, efficient staff. The room at the fourth floor (with elevator), was small, clean, basically decorated. At our arrival the was a sewage pipe problem in the bath room but they fixed in a very short delay Oriented to the street, the noise from the bar down stairs was not as annoying as it was supposed to be. The bar is a local sidra (cider) pub with delicious fish (bacalau) products. Budget, very well located hotel.…
