During our visit to the Basque Country, Bilbao was one of our must go-to places and the Carlton Hotel was just perfect! We loved the old world look and it's central location - a skip away from the metro, walking distance to some great food spots and shopping. Even walked to and from the Guggenheim. Albeit my husband and I... More

I understand that there is more than one type of room but the one we were given was top quality with two separate areas and (naturally I suppose) a separate bathroom area. Views over the plaza superb. Good service and a very surprisingly good value and quality restaurant ( small and relatively secluded). In my view worth a stay -... More

Stayed here for business a number of times and I only can say it is superb. The new revamped rooms are fantastic with plenty of room and a huge bed, double basin bathroom also quite big but a bit old fashioned (excellent amenities). Only comment here, noise insulation from adjacent rooms could be improved. Beautiful public areas, can't comment on... More

Beautiful building and great location. Comfortable beds, nice bathrooms. There are two types of rooms: the ones that look outside are modern and beautifully decorated, although they are mostly white and part of the furniture might not deal well with time. The ones that look inside are much more outdated and have a classic feel. We stayed in both because... you... More

What a nice place! The hotel has so much going for it and they do really good job. It is classy joint almost a little stuffy (desk staff are sort of snotty but they are professional and knowledgeable if not overly friendly). Rooms are very well done, lovely linens and comfortable. Great bar! This is a historic hotel (I first... More

This is a beautiful hotel which has been carefully preserved. It exudes class and style as you walk in. The staff were fine, not overly helpful, but when asked they answered questions in a pleasant and friendly manner. I think the language barrier did not help. The room, far from being traditional and opulent in the hotel style was ultra... More

Five Star hotel at a reasonable price, we have stayed here a number of times, we have always found the staff helpful. The location is great for exploring the city by foot, or if you want to use the Metro.

The Hotel is in a fabulous location and is certainly a grand old lady with heritage listing and therefore expected opulent elements in style and architecture however I found it really didnt hit the mark for what you woul expect for 5 stars in a number of areas. Firstly the middle aged male reception staff were somewhat arrogant and unfriendly... More

From our check-in with the ever helpful Pablo, to drinks in the magnificent salon, everything about this hôtel was pleasing. Its central location was convenient, the hotel itself is extremely beautiful and all aspects of the room were well-considered and generous. Coat hangers which could be moved beteeen wardrobes were particularly appreciated, as was the tea/coffee machine. Old world elegance... More
