My wife and I stayed at Melia Hotel in Bilbao, Spain on the first two days of our Basque Country vacation on October 27-29, 2014. The hotel is very modern with a superposition of cubic blocks designed by famed Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, known for using geometric shapes with brigh colors, here a lot of red. The huge atrium is...

We stayed in Melia Bilbao for 3 nights in mid-Oct and had a brilliant stay. Staff were really friendly and helpful (gave us maps and marked out loads of places that we should visit). Room was lovely, room service was gorgeous and we had a fabulous bathroom, everything was very modern. Breakfast was fabulous (we loved the Cava!) and the...

Having stayed at other Melia Hotels, I chose this one for our two day stay in Bilbao. However, I was not impressed by this 5 star. To begin with, there was no bellhop to take our luggage from taxi to the lobby. Being seniors, it was most inconvenient and dangerous having to lug our bags up a ramp. Although arriving...

It has been 17 years since the Guggenheim museum opened in Bilboa and through discussions with many locals it was the catlyst for multiple positive changes to the city, both physically and economically. This hotel followed with stunning architectural features and modern design furnishings. It is central to the Guggenheim and a very good local museum of Spanish and other...

Very comfortable hotel, within walking distance of the Guggenheim museum as well as a variety of pinchos restaurants in the town centre. Friendly staff. Nice architecture. Breakfast was excellent. Would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night. Good location, about a 10 min walk from the Guggenheim and 30 min walk from the Old Town. There is also a tram stop about 100 metres from the hotel. Staff at check in were very friendly and welcoming. The room was as you would expect, quiet and comfortable. A couple of negatives were that...

I spent recently three nights at the Melia Bilbao. The location is very good both for the Guggenheim and the Euskalduna Palace. Rooms are large, just light was dim and it was hard to read in bed. Breakfast has a great offer, even if a bit crowded. Just had an issue with wifi in the room, called the reception and...

We booked this hotel because it was near the Guggenheim, the reason for our visit. The hotel itself is mildly startling, ultra-modern and cavernous. The rooms are very good indeed, with a lovely modern décor and windows that open. The bathroom, all in marble, is big and looks huge. The restaurant and bar are both good and interesting, and the...

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was accommodating and the bathroom was very nice with shower and tub. There is also a SPA and outdoor pool which we did not use. It is about 10+ minute walk along to river to the Guggenheim. It is close to a very nice park. The breakfast buffet was very nice....

Strategically located near the center of the town, this hotel is convenient to all the amenities. Located across the atreet from the shopping center on one side and large park on the other, in the vicinity of the river on the third side, the hotel is very good in providing comfort to even most demanding guests. The only negative thing...
