We stayed a week. The palace is intimate with a small number of rooms and elegant inside features. You really feel inside an old elegant palace. The breakfast room is like being in home kitchen, with many great ingredients. The terrace is delightful with sofa bed and great dinner service. The hotel has a unique taste of luxury and privacy. We have to say that the service is incredibly personal and available. It is just an incredible place to be

A former palace that has been restored to a hotel with great care and attention to detail. The design and furnishings effectively blend the original design of the building with modern touches that make it a very comfortable place to stay. The location is right in the heart of old Palma near to the Cathedral but in a quiet backstreet with limited traffic.

The staff and service were friendly, helpful with bookings and travel advice and very professional. Special thanks to the Andre (the effervescent and charming Brazilian chef), Ivan on the front desk, Manual the Spanish chef for giving my wife his amazing homemade chilli oil and Francesco for his great coffees!

We stayed as a family with our 20 month daughter - and she absolutely loved the place (especially the piano in the hall)!

I’ve been coming to this gem in Old Palma maybe half a dozen times and love it . Hadn’t been admittedly for over 5 years and booked and welcomed by the utterly fabulous Pedro who seems to be in charge and a really enthusiastic welcoming team - Francesco , Mati , all of the reception and housekeeping staff superb as was the talented and charismatic chef . Chauffeur drive to and from airport excellent too and all
seem-less via Pedro .

The roof terrace is still such a unique feature as you almost touch the Cathedral windows although could be even more special ( showers seem to have gone & less luxury ) .

I did feel that the hotel had lost something of its wow factor in terms of a true Spanish merchant house with wonderful art and incredible first floor public areas . The lovely traditional kitchen and honesty bar have gone and there are actually many gaps from where previously outstanding art was
displayed .

I spoke to a local nearby who mentioned that the hotel has been sold over last few years after being closed for most of pandemic - this might well all add up. All I would say is , still very special and myself and friends will go back but , whilst I accept renovations must occur , be careful that this wonder testament to Mallorca architecture, style and appreciation of art doesn’t get lost . Such a special place which I do accept needs the ‘ right ‘ & subtle investment here and there but Bravo Pedro & Team , great job !

We have just returned from a short 3 night break in the nice little hotel. I have to say, of all my reviews on tripadvisor this is the most difficult to write. Its one of those stays that you enjoy but can't quite put a finger on why your not raving about the place. Ultimately, I think the reason is 'value' - more of that later.

Firstly some comments, that mostly line up with recent reviews:

I must start with the staff - they are probably the most friendly bunch I have met in a hotel outside of Asia, India or the four seasons in Lisbon. Truly helpful and discrete.

The main hotel rooms are unique, very impressive and give the
place someting special. Just walking around, taking in the diverse art work is an afternoon activity in itself.

The location is excellent - for a city break. Its in the old town, the taxi ride from the airport is 17 Euros and you can walk to most places in the old town within 10 minutes. The hotel has its own
gated entrance which is closed at night - it is a very nice walk back after midnight, quiet and peaceful.

It is the actual rooms that clearly have some impact on your stay, the selection between a suite and a double room should be made carefully. Our room, Mozart, was relatively small, or rather,
oddly shaped double, making it impossible for 2 people to get from one end of the room to the other at the same time. As an old building -clearly some of the rooms have innercourtyard views which are a little dark - as you would expect. The fixtures and fittings are excellent and the aircondition is quite superb. We glanced some of the other rooms - many of which looked bigger.
I would phone and ask a little about the room options available.

Other favourable aspects include the roof top area - which has a nice 360 view on which I watched a very impressive lightning storm and the cruise liners come in an out. We spent a few hours in the sun every day and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Note - there is no plunge pool on the roof - which I read on some internet sites. The roman spa is in the basement, with its small pool, and little sauna etc. - a nice touch though.

Id say the hotel was about half full for most of our stay (6 rooms) and I seldom bumped into people around the hotel. I'd say that perhaps a town position isn't what most want in July, so it seems relatively quiet in this hotel during the hot summer months. Which brings me to the value aspect.......

This hotel is 5 star and we have stayed in these types of very small unique hotels before in Paris, NY and Switzerland before.
To my mind it is cosmetically five star, it looks and feels great. However, you are pretty much left to yourself - which again some people, including me, find nice.

Subjectively, I don't think I would like this hotel at maximum capacity, the roman spa with two couples would be a little too intimate, as would more that two groups in any state room. Great for making new friends, but not if you want a quiet, romantic hour or two.

Value wise the hotel is slighly over priced - I would say anything above 200 Euro p.n. for the doubleroom in question (including the local tax) is questionable. We paid a little more than that even with the negotiated discounts. The hotel charges a whopping 21 euros per person for a cold buffet plus another 7 for the hot extras. Over 50 Euro for a hot breakfast for 2 in Palma is not really on. A business hotel in Dusseldorf yes, but the holiday crowd in mallorca - very strange. If you have a package with it included, well done !

Other aspects that might niggle: they communciate very clearly that their roomservice must be ordered from outside, taking at least 45 minutes..... I think a vast majority of people would find this a little too much hassle. Some would question a 5 start rating on this basis.

Things didn't seem quite as slick on Sunday, no afternoon tea or evening drinks, However, the little touches such as cold drinks on the terrace and late, late checkout, more than made up for these problems.

Overall, staying in the old town was a treat. It certainly is unique and I don't really think you will find anything else like it "in town" regardless of price.

I cannot recommend this hotel too highly. Beautifully appointed and decorated, in a quiet street just behind the cathedral, and comfortable walking distance of the whole city centre. Discreet and very friendly staff.
Rooms have B and O equipment. Bathrooms are wonderful with all the proper soaps, colognes etc. As many towels as you want etc. Pillow menu from soft to firm.!
Nothing is too much trouble including going out to get anything you want for your breakfast if they dont have it [most unlikely!]
Sent my wife a birthday card.
Go before the secret is out!

What a gem - hidden away behind iron gates - beautiful rooms with wonderful jacazzis (nearly all rooms have spa baths) and delightful toiletries....plus an enclosed patio for coffee and drinks in the morning or afternoon and a fantastic roof terrace overlooking the cathedral. You need to crank up your credit card before you go but the service and quality is worth every cent! I took my 4 year old daughter and she was treated like a lady (though some of the guests looked a little disappointed to find a child in this couples heaven. We stayed in the Purcell Suite and a Junior Suite. Junior suites are great value but if you can extend to a Deluxe, the Purcell, the bedroom is separated from the living area by a huge jacuzzi, which is surrounded by a stained glass screen!

A wonderful place to stay in the historic centre of Palma just steps away from the Cathedral. Built in 1570 it has recently undergone extensive restoration. Antique furniture& works of art give the immpression you are staying in a private museum
Quiet drawing rooms A beautiful courtyard with fountain...a roof garden offering panoramic views of the bay of Palma and the cathedral...a traditional kitchen where you can help yourself to afternoon tea and cakes. They have even managed to shoe horn in the only indoor pool in the historic centre.

The rooms and suites (only 12) have been beautifuly designed as have the luxurious bathrooms. There is no restaurant but breakfast is served either from a well stocked buffet or cooked to order. The staff were wonderful. Very professional and unobtrusive. Special mention to Leslie who served breakfast with cheery words and a smile and Sonia Maranges who epitomises what hotel management is all about.
A fabulous place to stay.

Spent 6 nights in spacious room "Schubert" in October 2004. A wonderful hotel, friendly, helpful staff, great location immediately behind the Episcopal Palace. Views of the east end of the Cathedral from our bedroom and similar views plus the harbour from the terrace where complementary soft drinks are available.
Splendid buffet breakfast + cooked dishes as extras. Lunches and dinners available to order - excellent quality- in your room or one of the public rooms.
We will certainly return for another luxurious break. Not cheap but excellent value for money.

My first time on this web site and thought that I would check out some of the reviews on hotels I have stayed in before taking heed of the comments on establishments I am considering visiting.
I must agree this hotel is a gem. Be prepared however to fall out with your partner on the driving approach to the hotel. Narrow streets, no entry signs which have to be ignored, locals who presume you are a daft tourist who has managed to enter the security cordon of the Cathedral by chance, all make for a hair raising final 15 minute approach to this excellent hotel. (I say a 15 minute final approach for the last half mile because you WILL take a wrong turning etc etc). And before any of you get too smart with your replies I'm probably the pilot who got you to Palma in the first place.

Wow. Just got back from a five night break at this hotel and have to say it was perfect. The hotel is small (only 12 rooms) tucked away of a tiny quiet street in the Old Town, two minutes walk to the Cathedral. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in everything else.

Upon arrival we were given a personal tour of the hotel by the receptionist, showing us all the main features and facilities of the hotel, whilst our bags were taken up to our room ahead of us.

We had booked a standard suite (The Schubert) and it was superb - it was a good spacious room with a king size bed, with a large bathroom incorporating a large jacuzzi bath and a seperate walk in shower. We were also greeted with a complimentary bottle of Cava to start our holiday off nicely.

Throughout the week, the service was personal and top-notch, with the staff being eager to help and serve at every opportunity, but without being intrusive. Complimentary tea and cakes are served every afternoon, whilst complimentary sherry is served every evening. Also, there is a "serve yourself, honesty bar" which is well stocked.

OK - it was expensive - but well worth it for a special occassion.

Would I go back? Definitely - just need to pay off the credit card bill first!

Just one tip - don't bother driving there. It is tucked away down narrow side roads in the old town and you are sure to get lost and / or scratch your car. Just get a taxi and let them get you there.
