Detailed Reviews
The Portixol is a very stylish hotel in a very striking building overlooking the sea and fishing/yacht marina. It is a 20 to 30 minute walk into the old town in one direction and there is a delightful promenade walk for several miles past pretty beaches in the other direction.
We were upgraded to a corner room with a decent sized balcony. The room had lovely 180 degree views of the sea and harbour, and was beautifully furnished but was quite small. Given that we had good weather, we appreciated the beautiful swimming pool.
We enjoyed the breakfast but did not eat other meals in the hotel because there are many interesting restaurants to explore in the area. However, the hotel restaurant appeared to be very popular at lunchtime, if quiet in the evening.
From a covid perspective, everything was well organised.
The less than perfect score reflects a questionmark over the price. Yes, it was a treat but maybe not that good a treat.

Stayed for 6 nights in a Mediterranean View Room (23)… lovely terrace. I thought the room size and very small bathroom were not good value for money. This is not a cheap hotel and in my view is poor value for what we paid, no breakfast included in a room that cost €500 a night is really taking the p..s! However, all the staff are lovely and helpful and welcoming. The restaurant food was lovely and we ate there twice. Would I return? No, not at the price we paid… would I recommend… no… 🙁

Portixol is suitable for a long weekend and is aimed at adults. You are quickly in Palma, directly at the sea and you have several beaches (with beach clubs) nearby. From Portixol you can go by bike (bikes are available for free use in the hotel) along the sea on bike paths (flat terrain) to Palma or to the beaches at El Arenal. Those who do not like big hotels will feel more comfortable in this smaller hotel. However, the finca hotels inland have much more charm and are more personal.
We had a Mediterranean View Terrace and a Port view terrace room (number 31) and for the last night a Port view without terrace room (number 42). Mediterranean and Port view are both nice, but definitely make sure to get a room on a higher floor for a better view. I do not recommend the porthouse room/suite. They are in a separate house on the street.
The decor of the rooms and the entire hotel was modern and well kept with a slight bohemian touch. Breakfast was served at the table, which I found pleasant since we were traveling in Corona times. For dinner, reservations are highly recommended (early!) as the restaurant was always booked during our stay. We had 3 dinners at the hotel (always outdoor) and were satisfied (the grilled artichokes are recommended). However, it is not a gourmet restaurant. The outdoor restaurant is rather small and suitable for a leisurely dinner.
However, I would not recommend the hotel for a longer stay.

Arrived at this wonderful hotel, sat outside with views over the sea. We ordered food and waited over an hour for starters to arrive. These were nice. Then we waited an additional half an hour for our mains to arrive and they brought myself the wrong wok noodles but I didn’t want to wait another hour so I just said I’d try them and they said they would come back and check and if I didn’t like them they would change. The noodles tasted like pot noodles- so salty and the texture was like one of those packet noodles. My mums cod was raw. We waited but no one came to ask how things were. Eventually someone came and took plates away and asked how things were and I said quite honestly not very good. We asked for the bill and he returned with no apology, added service on and didn’t take the uneaten cod or the wrong noodle dish off the bill. For that price you expect the food to be good and I am not a fussy eater but honestly it was awful. I am sure this must have been a one off and we were unlucky but it doesn’t make me want to go back. My mum felt so Ill from the fish that for a good hour after the visit she felt sick. Won’t be returning. :(

I had work that kept me in Europe for two weeks in Feb, so decided to do a weekend in Mallorca. Found the Portixol and it didn't disappoint. Feb is definitely offseason but the place still had some electricity and a great location. 15-20 min walk to downtown or a bike ride on their free loaners. The beach is just a few blocks away and the property is right on the water. Great pool and restaurant. Pricing is fair and service is great. Small but decent gym and many other chill restaurants nearby.

A wonderfully constructed and designed property with some superb rooms, views and facilities. Not the prettiest on first sight but once inside and round the pool it strikes you how much affort has been made to exude quality. Our room was superb - sea view with terrace, but be warned, we did see inside some rear facing rooms and some are definitely small and with poor views and no balconies.
The bar and restaurant are beautiful. Breakfast was unusual and superb, no mass, grease, congealed buffet but freshly served at your request. Other meals are of the highest quality.
The pool area is very attractive and well looked after. Staff are lovely, friendly and attentive.
Add in the thirty minute walk to the cathedral and it is difficult to fault the experience.

Let’s start with the positives: the outdoor restaurant terrace had a nice ambiance...
Ok, now the rest.
The initial welcome was cold to say the least, the head waitress was on the borderline of appearing to be pissed off/aggressive.
Service was soooo slow, the food was over priced and certainly not worth the added expense.
Drink orders took ages, we asked for the bill 3x before we received it.
Luckily I didn’t pay but if I had the management would have been informed of my disappointment.

This is such a delicate place located in the harbour with wonderful sea breeze and view.
The pool area is usually quite calm, but pls have in mind that there might always be parents, not at all realising that others (also on holiday but with another expectations) don't at all want to listen to their kids constant loudly play in the pool, but sadly I guess that lack of parental awareness thing, newer goanna change..
The restaurant:
I would claim the restaurant to be, the heart of this establishment, most well managed by head waiter Maria.
With its genuine atmosphere and nice spot on marina location, its quite easy to sit back and enjoy, letting all Mediterranean flavor’s just blend in.
A slightly improvement to the today modern digital QR code menu reference, is to also ad remarks of what vice versa dish contains, sort of G* for Gluten, so the guest easily can refer their dining choices.
I would gladly recommend staying here whenever, and when so I would recommend book a room a bit higher up, as the frequent delivery trucks, taxis, etc tend to be a bit noisy, always keeping their engines running, especially in the mornings.
(Truck drivers doesn’t always understand who really pays there salary)

really super experience, the restaurant is just outstanding, Interieur, service, food an ambience .... wow! There is not many places where you get treated that professional and well paired with such individual dishes. The internal architecture must be from the 70s and is in excellent conditions.

We've visited the restaurant many times for dinner and it's still one of our favorites for a night out with friends or a quiet dinner for two.
The terrace setting is great, there's a wide range of food choices from light, tasty bites to full meals.
The team are first class & there's some nice wines to savour!
I use a little electric wheelchair and the team are fantastic at getting me around the pool, up the ramp & safely seated on the terrace - thank you !

Warrington, United Kingdom249 contributions70 helpful votesdo all rooms have balcony's, apart form the terrace ones?
The hotel has a square shape outside as a building, but the bedrooms and balconies they are not all the same. It has a nice bar-restaurant and a lovely swimming-pool. Most of the views are to the sea and the little port.
Yes they have a website..Just type Hotel Portixol into Google or similar..We spent a few days in a two bedroomed suite by the hotel entrance. Two Bedrooms. One on ground floor with shower, first floor has a bath/shower and a sitting area ..and there is a roof terrace...Attico was our favourite but it's for two people...
