Detailed Reviews
This hostal seems to have come right out of a book. A horror book. Upon arrival we were greeted by a drunk receptionist who failed to point us to our room. After trying to work out the numerical order of the rooms (we came to the conclusion there was no order) we found our room. The room itself was fine. However, we were not alone: once I had laid down to go to sleep, I was greeted by the Palma bed bug committee. Unfortunately, these bed bugs decided to come back with me to England. This trip cost me more than expected seeing as I had to spend an unexpected amount to get rid of them from my own home. It took a month and a half to finally get rid of them. If you go to Hostal Terramar, you are going at your own risk...

I would never go there ever again. The staff do not speak English and I had this one who kept interrupting me while I spoke to him and he kept saying the same ober and over again not allowing me to actually talk and not hear what I said. Other than that the place sucked. You can find much nicer and cheaper places like La Mimosa which is so close to the beach and has a swimming pool.

Although the staff were nice and the area was allright, discovering lint and hairs on my bed was rather disappointing. However, I kindly asked for the sheets to be changed and the problem was solved in a friedly manner. Also, the matresses were old and I could see how worn off the covering on them looked.

Basic hotel, nice room for price with balcony, cleaned everyday. Two lovely Swedish women working here. Make you feel welcomed, free tea and coffee. Staff are wonderful. Even ordered me a taxi for airport. Couldn't fault the staff, if you're not German. Don't come to this area though

This hostel was lovely! Spent a few nights there in June, and there is an awesome rooftop where everyone hangs out and meets other travellers, it is very close to a shopping area (not so close to the city centre), bus routes, and the nightlife, and there is a great general area patio, and beautiful lounge room with book case. As a hostel, I was really impressed and would recommend it to anyone!

I have been asked to provide a review of my experience whilst staying at ‘Hostel Terrama’ in Palma so I will be absolutely candid. My travel plans were altered and my journey was short notice, if truth were told the hostel was not my first choice accommodation but it served a purpose. The journey was arranged several days prior to travel and as a direct result the airfares increased with all air carriers to Mallorca, the increase airfare significantly changed my budget on accommodation. I only required one night and to reduce expenditure further I required accommodation within reasonable walking distance of Club de Mar.
I flew from Alicante using Vueling and no complaints with the air carrier as the flight went smoothly both ways. Outside Palma air terminal I located the bus stop and waited for the “number one” bus. I used the information provided on the Google map to identify, which bus stop and observed a bus route displayed at the bus stop. I took a photograph of the stop using my smart phone and then showed the bus driver to avoid any confusion, however, I discovered this was not necessary as the cost of travel is €3 regardless of which stop. The bus stop is near the hotel Gran Melia Victoria easily identified by a large sign on the roof of the building, and within 100mtrs the steel stairway that leads to the hostel.
The stairs are steep and not suitable in my unprofessional opinion for someone with any sort of health problem but that decision is down to that individual. Upon reaching the top of the stairs I was filled with “dread” and my stomach tightened as the first impression of the hostel was of a derelict building in some war torn country. I reassured myself it was the rear of the building, I did not approach directly as I would have observed a key code pad and intercom. I walked into the next street and could not locate the building, by now I was feeling as if I had been “had” and very disillusioned that the hostel did not look like the photograph on the internet.
I returned to the other side of the building and found the entrance, which I had original passed, I pressed the intercom and was allowed entry. I knew the hostel was basic, as I had booked it and having experience travelling to 3rd world countries consider I have experience to comment. The receptionist was friendly and polite but spoke no ‘English’ and my Spanish is no better even though I reside in Spain but we understood each other? Checking in went smoothly and I was shown to my room on the first floor near reception. I had booked a ensuite and was not disappointed, but the room was more basic than I anticipated, some 3rd world countries have a higher basic standard than this hostel but I was only staying for one night.
This hostel is basic, I did not expect so basic unless I was sleeping on a park bench covered in newspaper. As my stay was in March the nights do become cold and with no double glazing for added insulation the room became cold, I was expecting a quilt at least, but had to use the sheet and counterpane of the second bed in this twin room. There was a blanket in the wardrobe and I guess I could have asked for an additional blanket, I decided to chance it and just keep the small electric radiator on all night to compensate. In all fairness I had a good night sleep as the mattress was comfortable but I would recommend a sleeping bag possibly (1 season) if staying outside summer.
I have already mentioned the lack of double glazing so this does two things, firstly retain heat loss and secondly reduce noise, The windows are single pane and the wooden frames are not fitted correctly or are warped through age, and in the small bathroom there is a large hole in the wall allowing the outside air into the bathroom and noise. My room was located to the front to the building over looking a small square with a café bar opposite and a small road beneath used by traffic and pedestrians, I am unable to comment what the noise level is like in the height of summer!!!
Excluding the café bar opposite there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance but I would not say the menus were inexpensive, but I would say the hostel is in located in an exclusive part of Palma. I located a pizza restaurant near the Hotel Gran Melia Victoria, which was reasonable on it’s prices but March is not the height of the holiday season when maybe the prices increase?
Upon returning to the room I used the “free Wi-Fi”, using the passcode provided but after awhile the signal was not received so no more Internet on my computer only smart phone? In the morning I was able to have a hot shower but the water temperature did not last for long about 5 minutes before the temperature started to cool down. I noticed when exiting the shower the bathroom floor had flooded but did not panic or stress out just used the extra towels to absorb the water. There is no carpet on the floor, as I travelled light I had no suitable footwear to use in the room, no doubt during summer the room and floor are very warm. There are plenty of electrical sockets in the room but they are located in inconvenient locations and none beside the bed.
Would I stay here again? Probably “yes” for one night only but not through choice, it was OK for one night for someone with a small budget. As I disclosed earlier I have experienced a higher standard of basic in some 3rd world countries and did expect slightly better for a European country.
There is not much more I can say other than “you pays your money and takes your chance”.

Avoid at all cost! You pay from 12h but no receptionist is here to open the hotel from 13h til 16h. The room I have is in full sun it must be 60 degree in there and there is no wifi. It s ok clean but paying 38 euros to share baking wifi-less room with 4 people is just totally over the top...:(The receptionist is not professional: for him it s normal for people to wait until 16h to check in their room...Only had one day in mallorca and i wasted 3 hours with my luggage instead of going to the beach...

+1
After all the bad reviews I was really surprised when we arrived.
The position is really good, just 30 minutes by bus from the airport.
We came here just for a night because our plane landed late and we needed a place where we could sleep for the night.
I was anxious that no one would be at the reception but there was actually a gentleman waiting for us, really nice man.
I booked a double room with the communal toilet but we were lucky enough to have a family room with the private toilet!
Everything was clean, and much more than I expected.
Only downside was the terrible stairs to get to it and the heat inside the building.
For the rest, I would suggest the place especially for a short stay.

I cancelled this hostel the day after i booked it with the free cancellation. They took £49 out of my account despite them saying cash only as payment. Tried calling no one answers an now my number is blocked by them, emailed, no replies. I've reported them to booking.com. I cancelled because I heard awful things about them like them charging cards after you've paid full in cash, charging after cancellations and ignoring customers, not being there when you check in after 8pm ect and they were right! terrible customer service and they are THIEVES! STAY AWAY!!!

The reception is not exactly what it should be... I booked a double room and got a twin room. Very noisy. Bathroom is too small. No water pressure. bad Wifi.
