Location 5-10 minute walk to Cortez Englas shopping, 10 minutes to cathedral, 15 min walk to the port where the boats/yaughts etc are parked. (lovely places to see sun go down and see the cathedral lit up at night.
Wonderful breakfast, with full international choices of every bread, fruit meat etc and hot items cooked to order, cost was ($15) but for a treat it was worth it to have a great breakfast in lovely surroundings. Overall a heck of a bargain for this hotel that was so lovely inside and felt luxurious in many ways that I have not seen except in very very expensive hotels elsewhere. For location or a romantic stay the room will fit the bill.
The location was ideal with lots of restaurants nearby and easy walking distance to the old town, the sea front and other sights.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially getting us a taxi to the airport at 5am within a couple of minutes.
In fact everything was perfect and we would love to stay at the Continental again.
Lovely sized room, very quiet, great air conditioning, fridge, kettle, safe, large bathroom.
All of the staff were helpful and made guests feel welcome.
The hotel has a spacious elegance about it and despite being busy, never seemed overcrowded.
It is much more akin to a business hotel than a holiday hotel and was absolutely perfect for a city break in Palma.
Located in quieter Santa Catalina…this was also perfect for us.
The old town was a 7/8 minute stroll away and the harbour area around 10 minutes walk.
There was a spa area and fitness centre which we didn’t use.
Also great (for us) was that the hotel does not have a pool and all the ‘stuff’ that a pool often brings.
I’m sure that kids would be welcomed but there were none in the hotel during our stay (another bonus for us).
Breakfast was served in a dedicated area from 7.30 onwards. Plenty of cold dishes and a choice of several hot dishes cooked to order. The kitchen is breakfast only (no other meals are served) so plenty of opportunity to try local restaurants.
To that end I would like to give a shout out to two local businesses.
1) Bastian Contraré…a superb family run Italian restaurant located in a quiet square only around 200m from the hotel.
2) Up and Down…a small bar a few minutes walk away that specialises in Mojito’s and Daiquiri’s but also has a great selection of spirits and wines.
To sum up…I can’t fault the Continental in any way.
If you are looking for a quiet, oasis of calm…then this is your place.
Location is very convenient, just next to Fabrica - populous street with restaurants and tapas bars, not far away from old town (15 min walking).
The only thing we do not like sound insulation, through the door of the room you can hear almost every noise, as well as showering other guests of the neighboring room.
The first thing that struck me is how clean the hotel is. The Continental is spotless throughout & rooms are cleaned to the highest standard each day. Rooms are basic however they are immaculate & have everything you need with a comfortable bed & chair & good sized bathroom with a full length mirror.
Location wise this hotel is central with all the main sights of Palma only a short walk away. It’s also nice & peaceful at night so no issues with noise.
The thing that made this hotel standout for me, as well as cleanliness, was the friendliness & helpfulness of staff. They make you feel welcome from the outset. This was my first trip to Palma & staff gave me lots of information & tips including a map & hotel card with contact details on should I get lost which was a lovely & thoughtful gesture & very reassuring as a solo traveller. I had a late flight going home & they continued to look after my needs after I checked out until I left for the airport which again was greatly appreciated. The staff create a lovely, warm atmosphere & add to the boutique feel of this special hotel.
Palma is such a pretty & vibrant city with so much to see & do. As a solo traveller I felt completely safe at all times & very comfortable eating out at night. I will return & most definitely stay at The Continental again as it was a perfect stay in every way :)
We used only our room, not other facilities. We asked for a room with a balcony and got it! It was on the 3rd floor and looked on the main street, but if you closed the window, the noise was not disturbing. We even were able to se some part of the sea from there :-)
The room was very large and so was the bathroom! Beds were big and comfortable, with quite hard mattress (which I prefer!) and I slept really good.
I think that this hotel gives you a great combination of being in the city, really close to many sights and with normal price. Great value and if/when we come back, we will stay there again!
"For the less fit of us, taxi service is great. 5-8 Euro into the town centre and where cash is preferred to card."Read full review
