Comfortable hotel in ideal position on edge of Gothic Quarter opposite Barcelona Cathedral (Not La Sagrada Familia). Undergoing some renovations but this did not intrude on our visit. Spacious room for 3 adults - can highly recommend it. Only complaint was that we had a view of a wall and not the cathedral as the web site suggested.

We had stayed here years ago, and I would have given it five stars if I were rating then. On a return trip to Barcelona bringing an additional family member, we wanted to experience this again. However, when the reservation was made months in advance, apparently it was not made for the cathedral view room that we had had before....

Positives ; overlooks the magnificent Barcelona Cathedral and adjacent square which is usually busy with buskers performing and market stalls selling stuff, the Gaudi Exhibition centre is located opposite the hotel, La Rambla is less than a minutes walk away, the enchanting Santa Maria Del Mar Basilica and the Picasso Museum are both less than 5 mins walk away, the...

Superb location, with access to most tourist sites/agents/facilities by foot. Good restaurants nearby, which are even open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Breakfast well worth the E18 per person per day, although basic breakfasts are available nearby. Front desk could be a little more friendly, and room services a little haphazard at times. Rooms large by modern...

We had two connecting rooms for a night pre-cruise. Hotel staff was great and rooms were comfortable. Appearance may seem a little dated, but it kind of fits the style of the hotel more than making it ultra modern. Would definitely stay again! They use kind of funky keys on really heavy key chains, just drop them off at the...

This hotel is in the perfect location to explore Barcelona and the staff from the manager to the chambermaid are friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room and the hotel itself were spotlessly clean with everything you could ask for.

What a magnificent hotel! Located opposite to the cathedral in the gothic area of the city, at walking distance of Plaza Catalunya (5minutes) when arriving with the aerobus. We arrived early and our room was already available. We got a fully renovated room at the first floor. The room was fantastic and clean. Daily service was perfect, great breakfast. Roomservice...

It's a high standard hotel, with an excellent service. Personel are amiable and very polite. They're currently renovating the hotel and the result looks great. The terrace has a wonderful view of the city and the spa, although I didn't have the time to try it, also looks like an experience to have :)

The Colon is a thoroughly old-fashioned (in the best sense) hotel. Over the Winter period, when the room rates are very low, it must be the best value in Barcelona. The breakfast really cannot be bettered - not just an exceptional choice, but constantly replenished so as to be at its most fresh. For the price of a standard double...
