Location is great Rooms and bathroom are pretty Staff is nice BUT hey, what's the point of paying >200 euros / night if you can't sleep in your room ? You can hear EVERY word of your neighbours, and smell their cigarette also. If they want to chat until 2am, too bad for you ! I let you imagine if... More

Nice hotel in a good location just off las ramblas. A visit to la boqueria market is a must and a 3 minute stroll from hotel. Freshest sea food in Barcelona. Friendly staff with an efficient check in. Nice breakfast (including Buck's Fizz which was a nice touch)! My only negative comment would be although the room had a nice... More

Stayed here for 3 days to celebrate a birthday, the location is awesome - and the staff were so kind and helpful. The rooms are a bit small, but clean and nicely designed. But the mattresses in the rooms were terrible - nether of us got more than a couple of hours sleep on any night - after the second... More

Very nice small hotel in a convenient location. Beautiful architectural details, super friendly staff and nice, functional clean modern rooms. Our stay was a birthday celebration and the hotel sent a bottle of champagne, a small birthday cake and a card to our room. Nice surprise. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Barcelona.

A classic building updated into a very comfortable, pleasant, modern hotel with a gourmet restaurant, a great bar, and excellent facilities, right in the middle of the Gothic District and a couple of short blocks from La Rambla.

A great hotel in a super location off the Ramblas. The rooms are very good although the tv has a very poor station choice with no entertainment channels in English. The restaurant has fabulous food and excellent value for a highly Michelin rated chef. As good a hotel as the Meridien and substantially cheaper.

3 Night stay prior to our transatlantic cruise. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. Renovated from it's original charm. Rooms are very modern. It's location is tucked away on a side street off Las Ramblas, so it is quiet and a great location. The room was small by American standards, but by European standards it was just fine for the two... It has been 4 years since our last stay. Thank goodness, you have not changed a thing. Had a great room on the 5th floor. Not sure if it was luck or fate but it was the best! Only 1 night stay but everything was just right. Perfect location! Thanks again.

Excellent location in the heart of Barcelona, 2 min walk to the fantastic food market and rambles, 10 min walk to the seafront/Marina as well as an abundance of delightful tapas bars. Very stylish hotel, spotlessly clean & staff very welcoming, attentive, helpful & polite.Would highly recommend & would return in the future

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.

The 4 Star Superior Hotel Espana is located in the heart of Barcelona's historic centre, adjacent to La Rambla, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Gothic Quarter. Opened in 1859, it was later renovated by the celebrated modernist architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner. The hotel has always been considered a little gem of Barcelona modernism. Completely renovated in 2010, it combines modern interior design with the classicism of a nineteenth century building. The hotel's restaurant service is under the management of the chef Martin Berasategui. ... more   less
