Very nice hotel - clean spacious room and bathroom. Very good customer service, especially the reception staff. On check in given great info for touring the city. Roof terrace is very nice, and gives a good outdoor feel to a city centre hotel. Only ate in the hotel once and the food was very good. Metro station on your doorstep...

The hotel was perfectly situated for sightseeing in Barcelona. The staff on Reception were very welcoming and knowledgeable of places to visit, and directed us to the local Metro and bus service. The restaurant served great breakfast options, with afternoon tea, free beer tasting and delicious evening meals. We will certainly recommend this hotel to our friends.

We have just returned from a four night stay at this hotel. Although the building has a typical chain hotel layout, the staff were not typical. We found them all, especially Alessandra on the reception desk, to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the food (breakfast) was of a good...

It was a great break in Barcelona. The stay at the Barcelona Universal was really enjoyable. All of the staff could not do enough for you . The room was very comfortable and we had some great night sleep. The hotel is located 10 minutes from Las Rambla, so very central to the city centre and the beaches. We would...

Stayed here end of March, hotel was brilliant. Quick check in and really helpful staff! Room was good, shame about the window view though (was in the centre of hotel with building equipment) room 201, clean though! Wasn't too much choice at breakfast but was enough to satisfy. Very close to everything, La Rambla about 5-10 minute walk, beach and...

Stayed recently for the Marathon and found the hotel ideally positioned 10mins walk from Las Ramblas, close to shops/restaurants and bars. Rooms are spacious modern clean and very comfortable. We had room at front of hotel on 5th floor. Very quite considering the road outside...you can hear the difference if you open the window. Hotel offers a superb breakfast buffet,...

We really enjoyed our stay at Barcelona Universal. Hotel staff are all lovely and very helpful. Excellent breakfast with so much to chose from. Bar serves lovely cocktails, beer tasting 6-7 and 50% off beer 7-8. Fantastic location and 10 minute walk to la Rambla or taxi is only €7. You won't be disappointed if you book here! Would not...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
