Great location - on Barceleona's 'Broadway', close to the port/sea front, and walkable into the Gothic Quarter in about 15 minutes. Hotel itself is clean and modern, decent breakfast, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Very happy and would definitely come back again.

Spent three nights at the Barcelona Universal Hotel. Hotel was easy to reach from the airport - metro L9 to Zona Universitaria and then L3 to Paral-lel - hotel is just outside the metro exit. We stayed in room 220 which is at the back of the hotel so we didn't notice any traffic noise. Room size was adequate, breakfast...

This hotel matched the expectations I had. We asked for a high level room with a view and were not disappointed, room 819 allowed us to see Sagrada, the Cathedral and a lovely view over the rooftops of Barcelona. Quiet room. Huge bed and very comfortable, clean room. Bathrooms are a good size and are well stocked with toiletries. Large...

the main reason I'm rating this hotel is because of the cleanes. the bed sheets are very clean, the bathroom is very clean and they do the room every day. they change the towels regularly. as for location I'd recommend you buy a subway ticket for your whole amount of days you're planing to stay in Barcelona because it is...

I have been to Barcelona many times, and never had a hotel to complain about. This hotel was noisey, both at street end or the back. I could not sleep well at all. The service is poor, even at the entrance, you were never well received or helped with luggage etc...everything had to be asked for. We changed rooms twice...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
