I stayed here many time for short business trips and it's my favourite hotel in the Paral.lel area. Location good for me, near the port. Not far walk from Las Ramblas. At the bottom of Mont Juic and you can get the funicular straight up from the Paral.lel metro stop a minute away. Rooms are comfortable, good size, pleasantly decorated,...

We stayed three nights here and it is probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The hotel is fairly conveniently located and not too far from La Rambla where all the action is. The subway is directly outside the front door so all accesses to the city are at...

Stayed four nights. Someone used a key card to enter our room and steel our money while we were at the beach. The hotel manager has done nothing to find out who took it, even though they can check the electronic door lock to see who entered the room. Very bad customer service. Have read that others have had same...

Having spent a week at the Hotel Universal Barcelona, we couldn't have been more impressed. The hotel itself had a great location, was always clean and had good facilities. The staff at the hotel couldn't have done anymore for us. They were extremely helpful, letting us use the computer, print our tickets and gave us great advice on what not...

We stayed for 6 nights at the Hotel Barcelona Universal. It is a friendly, welcoming hotel on avenue Paral-lel, right outside the subway (L2 and L3 lines). The staff is helpful and accommodating. The lobby features a friendly bar and desktop computers. The rooms are clean, modern and moderate sized. The rooftop features a small pool and a nice sitting...

I visited this hotel as part of a stag group. Some were a little more rambunctious than I would have wished but the hotel took all shenanigans in their stride and with consummate professionalism. The rooms were in good order and reasonably priced. It's very central and has a rooftop pool. The gym is a token effort. The bar area...

Stayed here in Aug 2013 whilst on our Europe tour. We lodged here for 6 nights and couldn't fault it. Great facilities, pool, breakfast, wifi, service. Everything about this hotel made our trip to Barcelona that much easier. The hotel is about 25 mins from the airport and is a stone throws away from the main shopping street La Rambla....

We stayed in a triple room with our teenage son for 6 nights. Much cheaper than having to get two rooms. The room was spacious, beds comfortable, great maid service and plenty of water pressure in the bathroom. Thankfully didn't have any problem with cigarette smells (this is Europe), though there was occasional noise issues. The location was excellent. Right...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
