This is a clean hostal in a good location. I was there during the La Merce festival and the location of this hostal is on the parade route. Metro is next door, and there are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. That said, there is no kitchen and very little interaction between guests. Very boring and due to the layout... More

Stayed here for 5 nights over the Easter weekend with St George's day on the Saturday, so there wasn't much choice for accomodation for a relatively reasonable price (€73/night here, everywhere else was over €150/night). The best point was it's location close to all the old areas. Single room with shared bathroom. The showers had hot water if you were... More

The rooms are really basic, with simple beds and no aircon. Since our room was located with window facing road with traffic it was difficult to have the door open at night due to noise. Overall it was a positive experience with friendly staff (all though not to much of english speaking), clean rooms and location with walking distance to... More

Like the other reviews said, you get what you pay for. I would only book this for 2 nights max. Small bed with no TV. Staff are ok. Had trouble finding the place, no sign in front of building.

We stayed at the Hostal Layetana for a total of 3 nights and where happy with the price of the room compared to other places in Barcelona. The staff weren't overly friendly and appeared bored with having to answer our questions but still did offer some good advise. The room wasn't overly clean with a lot of dust and dirt... More

I should have known better when a room in Barcelona was 40 euro for a double. My husband and I are in our late 20's and recently spent a couple of weeks traveling thru Spain. We changed plans a few weeks before our trip and had trouble finding a room. This was chosen b/c of price and location and above... More

Since Barcelona is a very expensive city, we tried to find a cheap accommodation. This hostels price are accessible. We payed 30 euros for a single and 70 euros for a triple room , of course without breakfast with shared bathroom. We arrived at plaza de Catalunya from the airport. From there we had to walk to the hostel throught... More

This hostel is in a very central location, which is excellent for getting to places and the atmosphere of the city. However, having just been to stay in August, the building is covered in scaffolding and a dust sheet, so all the doors and windows have to be shut at night for security. As a result I was told, and... More

Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night.
