The location of this boutique hotel is very central in the Gothic quarter. The property is modern and attractively decorated. They offered a welcome drink for those interested.
My room on the 8th floor was a little small, but that's typical of European hotels. The decoration was appealing, and the bathroom was very modern. The complimentary toiletries were nice, and they even provided a small amenities bag for other items that might be forgotten (like razor and shave cream). The shower was blissfully completely enclosed (unlike so many European showers that have only a small piece of glass and all the water and warmth escapes), and the towels were huge and soft. There was a full size hairdryer in the closet, with the safe. The bed was very comfortable, and I really appreciated all of the extra pillows and plenty of power outlets on both sides of the bed. I also really appreciated the double-windows that kept the sound of the busy city out, and the blackout curtains that kept the light out. Aside from hearing the person in the room above me walking on the wood floors, I heard nothing and slept great.
There is a very nice rooftop terrace that wraps around 3 sides of the building, so you have views of the cathedral to the west, the coast and port to the south, and over to Sagrada Familia (in the distance) to the east. There are several comfortable chairs and tables on the terrace, and even a hot tub.
My room included breakfast, but since I have to leave for the airport so early, I didn't get the opportunity to try it. The front desk staff offered to pack me a picnic bag, though, which was nice.
Overall a very nice stay, and I would recommend this hotel to others visiting Barcelona.
The room was small and very noisy, we thought the windows where open due to the noise and the breeze, but they weren't! Neither of us had a good night's sleep, the underground also goes under the hotel and can be felt and heard on the lower floors.
We had cocktails in the bar which were nice and very well made!
The breakfast was worth paying for, amazing croissants, selection of hot and cold food and tea and juice!
The staff are all helpful, great rooftop, didn't get chance to use the hot tub and the bar wasn't open due to the time of the our stay but all looks very nice!
The noise in our room from the street ruined our stay unfortunately, if you do go ask for a room on a high floor!!
The hotel room we had (Room 803) was a little small, but I understand thatās standard for a European hotel, but there was enough space for what we needed. I had also booked this through a Luxury Escapes package, so it was an excellent deal (AUD $999 for four nights including breakfast). We also arranged for a airport transfer, as this was our first time in Spain, which was 55 euros (cash), but our return to the airport via taxi was about 30-40 euros, note however that there will be an airport surcharge depending on the time of day (anywhere from an extra 4-9 euros).
The linen provided was fresh and clean, but the amenities did not include conditioner - so lucky I had brought some in our luggage. The room also does not have USB ports for charging, so either bring your own adapter or the hotel should be able to provide one (but not guaranteed as other guests may have requested them first).
Service was also excellent and the hotel itself is beautiful. We would definitely be happy to stay here again.
The staff were all amazing and happy to be back at work and made me feel very welcome to be back. The rooms are spotlessly clean and a good size for the price. Complimentary water in the room is a nice touch. Great soundproofing even though you are on a main street, small noise from the metro below but barely audible. Staff are very attentive and helpful and happy to help with any request.
There was a few teething problems with the room key as they did not seem to open the room door but it was soon fixed.
Breakfast was included and served downstairs, good selection of items, freshly cooked bacon & eggs was delicious. Nice to enjoy a glass of cava with your breakfast and some fresh orange juice.
The Montcada is in an excellent location with great views of the cathedral from it's roof top bar and your room if you are facing that way. Plenty of places to eat and drink are on your doorstep and the metro is directly opposite so everthing you need for a perfect stay in Barcelona. ! Welcome back.
All in all this hotel was a perfect choice for us and would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quick break away. Would definitely stay here again on my future visits to the city.
The staff were very pleasant on arrival. and check in was quick and easy, with a welcome drink being offered.
The room was a little on the small side but we had everything we needed.
Bed, bedding, pillows were very comfortable. Slept really well!
The bathroom was well equipped, shower was powerful too.
Toiletries supplied were Rituals which smelt lovely.
Nice touch with chocolates and biscuits in the room, not sure if that was because it was Valentine's.
Staff were helpful with getting a cab and recommendations of where to eat in the evening.
Breakfast was very good, probably the best options I have seen whilst being away!
Full English option, although tiny sausages. Full continental breakfast, with warm croissants and fresh orange nice brought to your table.
Roof top area open wuth the small Jacuzzi abd extra towels
Overall a great hotel with lovely staff, clean and welcoming although bedrooms are on the small size.
