The Hotel Duquesa de Cardona in Barcelona garners praise for its immaculate, spacious rooms that offer modern comfort and stunning views, though a few guests caution about potential noise. Visitors rave about the exceptional service, noting the staff's dedication to guest satisfaction.
While the prime location in the Gothic Quarter is a highlight for its proximity to attractions and the sea, the nightlife may contribute to some after-dark disturbances. The hotel's vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by its stylish decor and lively rooftop bar, which, along with the highly acclaimed breakfast, adds significant value to the guest experience.

We had a wonderful stay, very nice boutique hotel. Starting with our check-in after long international travel the kind lady at the front desk was able to expedite the cleaning of our room and get us in with just a short delay.
We went to the rooftop patio bar with a beautiful view of the yacht harbor and had drinks and tapas served by the very friendly Andreas. In the winter the rooftop closes at 6 PM and he gave us plenty of warning so we could order a second round of sangria to enjoy by the patio heater. We migrated to the bar/ restaurant off of the lobby to find Andreas and the creative bartender Cesar that took care of us for the remainder of the evening, they were a great team.
We booked with breakfast included to find a full breakfast buffet that rivaled the best!
We also had dinner downstairs at the restaurant / bar, again the friendly faces of Andreas and Cesar greeted us and served a fantastic dinner of fine Spanish cuisine.
This little gem of a hotel is in a great location and the quality will not disappoint.

Excellent hotel and location in the heart of Gothic District- very walkable. Close to Las Ramblas. La Boqueria , the beach and fantastic restaurants such as Sedna, Los Caracoles, Cecconi’s and more. Breakfast buffet was amazing, lots of selection including fresh juices, espresso, pastries, bacon, variety of ham, cheeses, chorizo, salad, fruits, eggs and much more - we looked forward to it every morning. Not to mention their wonderful and friendly staff, Imelka went above and beyond making sure we were well taken care of. Room was cleaned, restocked and Complimentary bottles of water replenished daily. We had free beer and cocktail tasting, which was an added value and a fun experience. Rooftop bar was breathtaking. Given the chance, we would make this our first and only choice of where to stay next time we visit Barcelona. Keep up the good work!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
The hotel location for tourism is very good at the end of the gothic quarter and facing the ocean cross the street, the roof top has superb views and good ambience.
The major problem with the hotel is its location next right next to many pubs and bars resulting in noisy atmosphere well after midnight (we could not sleep before 3AM every night, weekend or otherwise). When we complained, the hotel reception was professional and welcoming by changing our rooms to higher level floor but the noise problem persisted.
Rooms are not clean and house keeping is not doing the best job

Dear guest, First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are glad to know you enjoyed your stay with us since you appreciated our location, roof top ambiance and staff. We are sorry to read you experienced some problems due to the street noise. In fact, the hotel is in a busy area where the are some bars and it could be noise sometimes in the weekends. Although this is not a frequent complaint, we always try to look for a solution. In that case we moved you to a room on a higher floor but we are disappointed to know it did not fulfill your expectations. We also take note about your impressions about housekeeping service and will take the necessary steps to improve it. We hope you can visit us again in the near future, so you can enjoy a 5 stars experience. Best Regards, The Duquesa de Cardona Team

Very nice hotel located right in the heart of the action, close to La Rambla and the beach. Have been once before to Barcelona but lived further up above Rambla, would recommend to live further down to the sea, but then it will be more expensive of course. The hotel had good beds and fresh bathroom with Rituals products. The breakfast was great and there was prosecco if you wished and great coffee machine, various vegetable shots etc. There was a roof terrace at the hotel with two pools, one a little bigger and one a little smaller. After the flight and check-in, when we were also invited for a glass of bubbly, felt luxurious : ), we took the elevator up to the roof terrace and had a bite to eat and a drink. Very nice and helpful staff. Nice view of the harbor and out to sea. The beach is close and we were there one day when we were very lucky with the weather. There were some guys selling drinks on the beach, do not buy these, we were cheated and we should have understood that ourselves.
There is a large shopping center down by the sea where there is much to shop. There are also some nice outdoor cafés and restaurants. Thought the prices are like in Sweden about. Slightly cheaper with alcoholic drinks, especially if you shop at a supermarket.
La Rambla with food market/market hall la Boqueria must be visited! We also took a hop on hop off bus and took a round, where we ended up at the Sagrada Familia church. However, it took pre-booked tickets to get in and there were huge queues. Incredibly many people throughout the city. Think Barcelona has become dirtier since I was there last, 14 years ago and much more vendors who went around selling roses, and other scratches on the outdoor terraces when you sit and eat.
We visited two amazing tapas bars, Elsa y Fred Gastrobar and El Set. Reservations are required otherwise you won’t get a seat, because these are very popular places.
The hotel also had a grand piano and a pianist who entertained there some evenings. Also a lot of live music and DJs on the roof terrace. Follow the hotel on Instagram. Overall a super stay and would love to visit the hotel again!

First the neighborhood: if you like dog punks and bad smells, you're in the right place. The rooms: dark; our children's room reeked of sewers, which we initially attributed to the fact that the windows were open (yes, the neighborhood); my children didn't dare tell us but on the evening of the 3rd night, when they returned to their room, it was filthy! Even the agent commissioned by the hotel to try to resolve a metallic noise problem (another problem which was very disturbing: metallic shock noise which could be heard in the 2 rooms through the dividing wall) made an gesture of recoil when entering the room. It was too late to do anything about it anyway but I doubt that the cleaning ladies had noticed anything and that the reception was unaware of it. Other problems: friendly ants in our room, mold on the side of the bathtub, a loose toilet flap, very average bedding, an inaccessible gym... Positive side (still): Beautiful terrace but well beaten by the winds. Limited lunch menu but good quality. Very friendly service, at least on the terrace. And finally, for our last breakfast, I asked a member of staff if I could have a capucchino (knowing that I had seen another customer the day before enjoying one that had been brought to him by a waiter). This waiter made fun of me with an arrogance that I have never experienced in my entire life: he took me to the automatic coffee machine, told me to take a nespresso capsule, put it in the slot then press the button then showed me the thermos of milk placed on the machine! So he took me for the lowest idiot with a fake smile! To avoid making a fuss in front of my children and my wife, I preferred to politely respond thank you before leaving the room for 10 minutes to calm down. He then saw that my wife and I were talking about him among ourselves and came to tell us that he could ask for a capucchino at the bar if I wanted! I wanted an apology, not a hot drink that I'm old enough to know without. In short, I do not recommend the Duchess of Condescension.

Perfect location. Incredibly friendly staff who are happy to give good tips on restaurants and attractions. Offered Cava on arrival and when we were waiting for a taxi before exiting to the restaurant. Wonderful roof terrace with a view of the harbor. Fresh rooms and good cleaning. Refrigerator in the room. Good breakfast, where you can get Cava if you want. Got a filled water bottle every day. Two showers (one free-standing and one in a bathtub) in the spacious bathroom. Ordering a taxi via staff on the return journey to the airport was 35 Euros. Small gym available, ask for key. Water is available in the gym. Highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I spent our 3 nights in Barcelona at this hotel and we are sure glad we did. Everything was perfect. The staff are amazing and they get to know your name (I don't know if that's a good thing....LOL)! Our room was on the 4th floor and was a nice sized space with a large washroom that had a separate show and tub. Bed, A/C, amenities, etc, all were excellent. Especially the sound proofing as this is an active area in the evenings.
The roof top bar is wonderful however they seemed a bit short staffed when we visited (on all three nights). Great vistas of the harbour, ocean and the hustle and bustle of the main road below.
Breakfast was absolutely top notch with an amazing variety. The location of this hotel is probably the best in Barcelona with everything right there or a short walk away.
Would definitely stay here again.

Great location you get to enjoy old and new part of Barcelona. I would recommend taking a taxi from Airport (15min $30) instead of bus and train and walk 10min with luggage. Front desk, bellman and staff at breakfast were amazing. They get great reviews because of them. Our room was very nice even facing the busy road and could hear noise, but it was not bad. Bed and pillow were uncomfortable at least to me. I was surprised they didn't have a coffee machine or refrigerator. Housekeeping didn't restock instant coffee tea water or soap. Are they expecting guest to call front desk for it? Breakfast was great I liked that they spread them out so no line to get food and it was relaxing. They don't offer cappuccino or espresso but lukewarm coffee. I stayed at 2 other hotels on this trip in Spain which were cheaper and had better amenities. 4 star is because of staff who are professional but approachable. They were always ready to help and seemed to enjoy what they do.

This hotel was great. Very centrally located in the heart of the city and also near the beach. Check in was easy. The staff was friendly, and the hotel and rooms were clean. I loved having a bathrobe in the room too and the bathroom was very spacious too. We’d didn’t eat breakfast (so I can’t comment about that) but we did drink at the bar. At check in they had great recommendations for restaurants and bars. The hotel has a rooftop that is WONDERFUL and they had food and live music. I would absolutely return the next time I am in Barcelona.

We found the Hotel Duquesa de Cardona Barcelona exceptional for the accommodations and service. We needed a wheelchair accessible room with a roll-in shower. The bedroom and bathroom were exactly what we needed. The bathroom was spacious and the shower curtain was placed at the right height to diminish spray wetting the rest of the bathroom. The staff was very helpful and the buffet breakfasts that came with our package were very good. The location of the Hotel Duquesa was also excellent. It is a couple blocks from the statue of Columbus, Las Ramblas and the beach. It also adjoined the Gothic Quarter so there were a great number of restaurants within a short walk. We really enjoyed our time there.

I’m absolutely sure the hotel will organise a taxi, they will also advise how long the journey will take depending on the traffic. The staff are very helpful.
There are taxi’s right outside the airport.
We took one to the hotel.
It was quick and easy !
I don’t recall how much the taxi cost.
They don’t have a free shuttle. I initially paid for shuttle transport that they recommended but due to our late arrival we missed the scheduled shuttle.
There are more places to choose from in the Barcelona area.
