We stayed here for 3 nights. Service was just fine, front desk people helpful and informative. The location is great for the old city. Other plus was the spa where we changed and showered after we arrived at 10am after a night flight. Only negative was hearing the rumble of the subway and the church bells although not at the...

Would recommend this hotel providing you are not expecting Asian hotels style service. Nobody is going to go out of their way for you here but it is a great location and a warm and cosy hotel. What you see on the Internet is what you get.

You really shouldnt stay here. This hotel will relax you, feed you wonderful food, serve excellent cocktails on a sun drenched roof terrace where you can also swim with a magnificent view over the whole city. This dreadful hotel will also massage - sweat - steam and lull you into total relaxation at its indoor pool, steam room, sauna and...

I've never been so pleased to reach my room at a hotel and feel so relieved that I'd made the right choice in hotels in an unknown destination. This was the perfect location, the room was beautiful and most importantly, the bed and linens were superb. I'd read the other reviews about the noise, and being on an outside wall,...

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Hotel 1898 from Sep 29 to Oct 3 and experienced every service, from a massage and exercise in the spa to rooftop poolside drinks and sunning, to breakfast, the lobby bar and multiple questions of staff. It's exceptionally well appointed and clean and perfectly located in the heart of Barcelona. The staff...

Perfect location at the top end of the Ramblas yet very quiet, beautifully appointed, great staff (really efficient, warm and friendly).Whilst pricey, its really well worth it.Would'nt stay anywhere else in Barcelona.

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times and it never lets us down. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful - they really can't do enough to help and always have a smile on their faces. On this particular trip we were 4 friends on a girls shopping weekend and I recommended we stayed here because of past experience...

Stayed in 1898 for a weekend break and everything about this hotel was excellent. The staff were way above average and went out of their way to be helpful. The room was perfect and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The reception/bar area was so relaxing and many delicious cocktails were enjoyed there. The location could not...

Went there for 3 nights. First time in Barcelona. The reason I only give it 3 stars is that it didnt quite lived up to my expectations. What was good: The breakfast The bed The decor of the hotel The rooptop terrace/view What was bad: The room The Spa The Aircondition What was average: The service: We loved the location....

This is a really great hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and made our stay really nice. Our room was clean and spacious and I didnt have any concerns over general hygiene. The only reason I didn't give the hotel a 5 star was because the towels weren't particularly soft and you get feeling that they may have been...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
