Wish we read the review before booking. Hotel is very dreary and although good for sightseeing, was in a red light area. We, as a family of eight, stayed for 3 nights this September. We reported a broken toilet seat in one of the rooms, and it was still broken when we left. Shower leaked all over the floor and...

We searched high and low for a well-priced hotel in Barcelona that was close to Las Ramblas where all the action was. This hotel exceeded our expectations and was also very close to the beach, shopping, and the waterfront. A simple but tasty morning buffet was also offered for 9 euros a day which proved handy before a full day...

I had booked the room based on the excellent-reviews from this site and i have to say i was very dissapointed!!!I knew that i couldn't have great expectations from a 3-star hotel but i believed that it could offer the basics -at least!! As shown THE HOTEL HAS NOTHING TO OFFER!!!!!! The rooms are really tiny and have no space...

Very good for being a 3 star hotel and the price was good although it was during a very large trade fair. Breakfast not extravagant but OK for being in Soth Europe. Only bad thing was that I was placed in a smoking room.

Used hotel as a stopover the night before we left on a cruise. Expected a no frills hotel with polite staff and that was exactly what we got. Room was comfortable and couple of bars just up the road. Not the most luxurious bars I grant you but they did OK for a snack. A 10 minute walk see you...

Only stayed here with a friend one night before boarding a cruise. This is the only circumstance for which I would recommend this hotel. My friend wanted a budget hotel and that is what we got. Small rooms make it a bad choice for families. The room was tiny and depressing, overlooking an alley. Clean enough. Old style TV with...

I picked this hotel for two nights based on internet reviews when we unexpectedly needed a hotel in Barcelona. We were so happy that we hadn't committed to a longer stay, and were able to get out to a nicer place ASAP! This is essentially a hostel-quality property in a red-light district. If you are looking for a skanky hotel...

The room was small - but I expected this. The room was hot and stuffy. The air conditioner could NOT keep up with the July heat – even at night. The bed was uncomfortable and squeaked but it did keep me off of the marginally clean floor. The shower was nice. The morning buffet is convenient, but kind of a...

Stayed here in Jan for 3 nights for a football match. We got cheap flights & didnt want to spend a whole lot on our accomodation. Got a great deal for the 3 nights. We werent really expecting alot, but we were very surprised! Hotel is in a good location. No more than a 5 min walk from Las Ramblas...

I was slightly concerned as a few reviews had said this hotel was in a seedy area however I didn't find this at all. I felt very safe walking around even in the early hours of the morning. It is on a main road, very wide and well lit. The location couldn't have been better in my opinion and there...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
