This is an old apartment turned into hostel. 5 floors through stairs, so if you're carrying heavy luggage, stay away from it. Nobody is on premises during the whole day. I had to call by phone to make them open the door for me, even when I sent them an email with my estimated arrival time.

Really cheap and good hostel, can recommend for all travellers who travel with low budget. And the hostel is as central as it gets. But when you're in a wheelchair or your old and don't like climbing five floors you shouldn't come here. Also if your often drunk it is an hell of a challenge to get to your room...

The five floors with no lift were hard work with heavy bags!! The stairwell was in a bad state of repair with loose tiles, flaky paint and a lack of light bulbs on each floor. Passed a 'lady of the night' just finishing a transaction on the the dimly lit stair well on my way back one night!! The main...

It was a terrible experience, especially that the hostel is on the fifth floor and there was no elevator and there was only one bath room working in the flat. And above all it wasn't this cheap, for some extra euros you can get a room in a 3 stars hotel in the same Ramlas street.

Didn't know what to expect having had my mate do all the booking. I was absolutely amazed by the location, but that was the only good thing. No air con and a window that opened into a closed off courtyard made the room feel sticky and uncomfortable. It wasn't even that warm outside so I can only imagine how bad...

I am writing this review from my room at the hostel because I just felt it couldn't wait. I get that they advertise this as a simple and unpretentious place, but there is a limit to that. If I'm paying €40/night for a double room for my boyfriend and I, I think some nice sheets are the least we could...

I had a private room in the Ramblas Hostal. The room was cute and very nice and a towel was included which was amazing, as I dont usually travel with one. The only problem was finding the actual building. We wander around Las Ramblas for quite a while before stumbling upon the tiny sign marking the location of the hostel...

I had been in December last year before at the hotel; Then I thought it was good. So went back this time, but this experience was slightly less than last time. Plus point; I was able to check in when I arrived and check out later than was prescribed. A little less this time were the showers and toilets. No...

It is absolutely unacceptable that the hotel's location at The Rambla 133 is not, in any way, marked with the hotel's name. There is a tiny entrance with the name of a restaurant and another pension, but not Barcelona City Ramblas. THIS, you can only see when climbing up 5 flights of stairs (over 100 steps) - and even then,...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
