This is a quaint hotel with nice people running the place. Our room was comfortable. It was next to the public space/ breakfast area so we heard everything from that area. That was pretty minor though. One major complaint was the shower floor was so slippery that both my wife and I almost fell several times. It was not safe. I need to get back to some positive points. We had a positive check in. The breakfast was good but make sure you get there early because they don’t add to what is put out. The staff helped us get a taxi. They stored our luggage past check out time. It’s a great location close to many things we wanted to see. There is a restaurant next door that had a wonderful peach spritzer. All in all, we are glad we stayed there.

Ally's Guest House is an excellent value. The owner and her husband has made their home into a full fledged bread and breakfast. The home on the 5th floor, has a lift, and is decorated very simply with ikea style furniture. The other guests were very friendly and diverse as well. Every morning, she puts out a breakfast buffet, with coffee, fruit and toast on request. Bathroom is clean and efficient, and shared with the other guests. She is very warm, and sits down with you to make recommendations and tell you about the city. The location is great - away from the noise and craziness of Las Ramblas, in the neighborhood of Eixample, just 50 meters from the Metro. It was just wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone!

This B&B is in a great location, and it is very clean and comfortable. The people who run it are so knowledgable about restaurants, sightseeing, even ordering taxis. It is in a beautiful neighborhood, close to transportation, and also within walking distance to some of the main streets. It had a great breakfast, and was a very reasonable price. We've stayed here before and definitely will return. It's a gem of a find.

I was very disappointed with my stay at Ally's Guest House. While the three flats that comprise "Ally's Guest House" are beautiful (small) rooms, the amenities and how we were treated were unacceptable. The amenities (which I checked on multiple bookings sites before reserving the room) all indicated things such as a "24 hour tour desk", printing available, breakfast, and air-conditioning. Guests should be warned that these amenities are not available in the way you would imagine, meaning that the tour desk is a do-it-yourself amenity (random desk in the hallway), the printing is only available if paper is there (or if there is guest house attendant available, which ours was usually not), and the air conditioning is non-existent (it not even installed in most of the flats of Ally's - you should expect a small fan). The breakfast is also served very late (after 8:30am), which we wish we had known about prior to booking since we had booked multiple tours that left before that time on most mornings. Upon our arrival, we mentioned this issue about breakfast to our attendant (Veronica) who did not offer us anything "for take-away" (the food was continental). However, my biggest disappointment with Ally's was how we were treated by Veronica and Graciela (manager). Regarding Veronica, we could sense she was impatient and frustrated that we spoke English and that there was a language barrier between her and ourselves. We tried to find the Spanish words we needed to communicate with her, but her hostility to us grew to the point where she found us on our final evening in our room and began yelling at us that we needed to "pay now!" (We were happy to do so, and had not disputed this at any point.) In part, what caused Veronica's rage was that on several bookings sites it indicates you can pay for Ally's with credit cards, and she was demanding that we pay in cash (and we were not carrying a sum that large for fear of pick-pocketers). In the end, we were able to pay by credit card by walking up several flights of stairs and visiting Graciela (Ally’s manager) who I relayed my concerns to about our experience. However, Graciela indicated that as Veronica's manager, she could not control her behaviour towards us. Graciela also noted that she was sorry we were not happy, but that she could not fix our concerns over air-conditioning (even though we were still staying that night at Ally's), and that she could not address why Veronica had been absent from the flat at all the times we needed to ask questions or address concerns, etc. It was a horrible series of excuses and refusal to give us a refund/discount of any kind at a time when she had an opportunity to offer us some sort of customer service. What resonates with me about this trip is how I felt uncomfortable going to back to my room at Ally's, even after we returned to Barcelona from our tours, because of the hostility I felt from Veronica towards us (this is an international language, no need for interpretation), the fact that we seemed to be discriminated against because we were English speaking, and that on my last night staying there I was fearful for my safety after being screamed at by Veronica and dismissed by Graciela. We left at our earliest possible opportunity the next morning and stored our luggage at the train station for our own peace of mind. I would discourage anyone from staying at Ally's who may be considering this. Customer service can be phenomenal in Barcelona (as we learned from the tours we went on), but you will not find it at this accomodation.

I booked this B and B for my daughter and her friends for the end of April after the university year was over for them.
The owner was very prompt and helpful in correspondance . My daugher and her friends had a good time there. They loved the clean room, the breakfast and the nice, caring owners, They were halpful at recommending good and reasonable restaurants and told the girls where to go and what to see.
they took the "fat tire bike tour " at the beginning of the trip and it gave a quick view of the city.
I would recommend to go there and will book my room there next year for myself.

My spouse and I visited Barcelona the second week of September 2006. We stayed at the guest house for 3 nights. I wasn't too sure what to expect. When we got there I was a little startled with the very noisy hardwood floors especially inside of our bedroom and in the hallway in front of our bedroom door. But it didn't seem to bother anyone so we tried not to let it bother us either. Upon arrival Graciela (very sweet woman) offered us tea or water. She also gave us 3 keys. At times it got a little frustrating trying to unlock the main and front doors. But we eventually got the hang of it (just remember which key is for which door!). Our room was nice, medium sized and clean. The two rooms by the breakfast area we noticed had smallish balcony windows. One bathroom is bigger than the other - both clean with hairdryers. I would advise to take advantage of the bathrooms as soon as you wake up. I'm not sure if they have airconditioning but there was a ceiling fan in our room which came in handy since it was so hot and humid in Barcelona (it rained too) during our stay. Breakfast was great! Just small items like breads, sliced fruit, yogart, cereal, juice, cheeses, ham, etc. But enough to fill you up before you started your day. Besides the creeky floors and sometimes frustrating locks, we really enjoyed our stay at the guest house.

Have just returned from a three night stay at the Ally’s Guest House.
As the other reviewers have indicated this is a good place to stay.
The location, in Example, was just perfect - in the heart of everthing but not in a noisy street as las Ramblas. The metro station , Verdaguer, is only at 50 mt.
At our arrival were welcomed by Graciela with a drink, a coffee and a cake.
My wife an I stayed in a double room and our 3 children of 16, 12 and 9 stayed in a room closed to ours. The view from our windows was great in front of Casa de les Punxes.
Graciela is a perfect host, ready with precious suggestions and very helpful with advice over where to eat, what to do and how to get there etc
Breakfast was always deicious : a great way to start the day. Our two rooms, which was simply furnished, was clean and comfortable.
This is an excellent place to use as a base to explore and love Barcelona.

We spent three days in Barcelona and had a wonderful stay at Allys Guest House.
Graciela is a wonderful and knowledgeable host. I do agree the floors are very squeaky & the keys can be hard to figure out but these things didn't spoil the experience. Our room was clean & the bed was very comfortable. We also has a nice view from of window. Every morning breakfast was set out for us coffee, tea breads, yoghurt & cereal. I would stay here again & recommend it to others.

We arrived at Ally's only to find that they had cancelled our reservation for no reason. The woman at the front desk claimed that we had been notified by email. If you're going to cancel someone's reservation and you know that they are coming from another country, you would expect more notification than an email. We had to scramble at the last minute on a weekend to find another room. Ally's guest house really screwed us and it cost us a lot of money to find another last minute room on a weekend.

When we arrived, I noticed that the woman at the front desk was smoking and the entire place smelled like smoke when we arrived. I had a feeling that things would not go well. We spent 2 weeks traveling across Europe and Ally's Guest House was literally the only hotel we had a problem with. I STRONGLY recommend booking with someone else. It's not worth the risk.

We stayed at Ally's Guesthouse during a long weekend in Barcelona. We were met on arrival by a lovely woman - Veronica I think her name was - who, despite us not speaking Spanish and her not speaking much English, welcomed us, showed us around and gave us a map of the city with a few tips of things to see and do. Based in an old style apartment building, the guesthouse has loads of charm and is situated just 10 minutes walk from Sagrada Familia, with a Metro station just around the corner. The location was fantastic for getting around the city! My friend and I had a street facing room (the Mila room) with a little balcony and incredible views, there was a bit of noise from the main road at night but nothing major or unusual for a busy city. Just take some earplugs if you're a light sleeper and you'll be fine. Breakfast was great too, plenty of choice and made fresh every morning, even in the morning when there were only the 2 of us staying!
The only slight issue during the stay was when I came to pay. I'd booked through Booking.com for £180, but was charged £240. However I showed the booking confirmation to Veronica and she made a quick call to the owner, everything was quickly sorted and I paid the £180, so no problems there! I would definitely stay at Ally's again and would recommend it to anyone.

The metro is available but will be quite a bit of walking and some stairs. A cab should be about 15 Euros at most (traffic will vary, but shouldn't affect it to much) or the metro with one change at diagonal or a longer walk. There will be stairs to get to from the metro and walking with bags in Europe is hampered further by cement dots at intersections (to help with blind people. Not sure if they have them where you are) if you are staying in Barcelona and don't mind the scenic route you can buy tickets for the hop on hop off bus at the stop at the terminal. Have fun!!!
