The area is the best in Madrid. The breakfast was fantastic and most of the staff were friendly. Receptionist suggested a restaurant chain which was weird as lots of options in neighbourhood, the room although comfortable was hot and air con didn't make any difference.

Close to Retiro Park and lots of high end shopping and extensive restaurants and tapa bars. Hotel is hip and fun but has an original working cage elevator. Good bed and we had 3 balconies in our room,308. Walking distance to most everything; Prado, Puerto del Sol, Plaza Mayor etc.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Its location is perfect, the room was a bit small but very clean and enough for us and had a good sized bathroom. Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
