Lovely, comfortable and clean hotel, friendly staff, especially the two barmen working 19/01/17 night. The room and bathroom were very clean and well maintained. The beds very comfortable, we asked for a second pillow each which was sent up straight away. We didn't eat their but there's plenty of cheap and nice places to eat close by. The hotel is...

This is a good hotel from which to explore Madrid. The rooms are compact but clean and have a mini-bar and safe. Staff are friendly and helpful. Not far from the hop-on hop off bus route.Hotel bar is very pleasant. Also there are a lot of decent places to eat nearby although I must say that the hotel prices for...

We booked this hotel back in the spring as we wanted a place with a restaurant open on Xmas Day. It's brilliantly placed just off the Gran Via, walking distance from the palace and great restaurants open all the time on the doorstep. The inward facing rooms are warmer than others. We were offered a move to another room but...

The location is excellent to central Madrid. Breakfast staff were very friendly. However we did not have a great experience here. I had to buy a pair of earplugs after the 1st night. The carpet was not hoovered for the 3 days were were there. Pillows were as hard as rocks.

Stayed here for two nights in December. Had to change rooms as first room was very small and was like a sauna. Second room was okay, but the walls are very thin- bring earplugs!! Clean and the staff were friendly. Didn't eat at the hotel but the restaurant and bar area were always busy. Great location, close to Gran Via...

The hotel is perfectly located in the very center. Breakfast and food are great. The rooms overlooking the inner court are right across the wall of another building and what they did? They arranged a wall garden where with a waterfall!!! Looks beautiful! They have a swimming pool on the roof and a bar in a real 15th century cave....

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
