Gorgeous, luxurious hotel, very exclusive-feeling and private, right in the middle of the city, yet so very quiet. We had two different rooms in two different buildings (had to move because of mobility issues) and both were wonderful.

Travelling with work I chose the Santo Mauro from our list of hotels having previously stayed at the Intercontinental and the Villa Magna, both about 10 minutes walk away. The hotel is located in a business district, a short stroll away from the upmarket shops of on the other side of the Paseo de la Castellana. Arriving quite late I...

I first have to say that the rooms we saw here were beautiful and well done. The bathrooms are lavish. Similarly, the public areas are of high quality and maybe, had my first language been Spanish, things would have gone better. When we arrived we were (apologetically) told that there was no upgraded room available. Our reservation had been made...

This was our first night in Spain, and what a way to start our vacation. I am a loyal Marriott member. This property is one of the most unique ones. We got upgraded to an incredible suite, which had multiple levels, including a loft with an office and two living rooms! It was so unique. Very cool place!

I was looking for a proper boutique hotel for a short weekend getaway in Madrid. I chose the AC Santo Mauro as I am a big fan of Autograph Collection hotels. This was my first time in Madrid therefore I really wanted to have a proper Spanish experience starting with my accommodation. Overall, I was happy with my decision. The...

Visited the San Mauro for a small wedding. They provided a room for the ceremony and after the ceremony we had drinks and apetizers and finger food. The best was the waiter slicing a Pata Negra leg of Jamon Serrano. Dinner was out of this world, and service impeccable.

We LOVED this hotel. The staff was amazing. The Hotel was tastefully elegant and comfortable. Our guest room felt like a step back in time but had amazing modern updates. The bathroom had everything you could need. If I had to suggest anything, and we really don't have to, bathroom lighting could be a little better and they need to...

I was in Madrid for work last week and took a few personal days to stay and explore the city. I stayed using Marriott points and this property did not disappoint - all the other reviews about this place are spot on. The property is in a lovely neighborhood away from the crowds and tourists overwhelming the Paseo del Prado...

This is a truly great hotel. From the outside, it looks great, but then you step into the lobby, and see all of the grand rooms on the bottom floor, and all of the employees at your service. Then you get to your room, and it just gets better. My room was huge, for a one bed room. It was...

I love this hotel. it's probably one of the most luxurious hotels i've ever stepped into in my life. Great location, great staff and amazing rooms. The junior suite is the room I stayed in and let me tell you, I was not at all disappointed. I recommend this hotel to everyone looking to go to Madrid.

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
