Advantages: good location, clean rooms and common areas, good breakfast with room. Hotel staff were very helpful and courteous. Disadvantage: only negative was very loud guests in adjacent room, late at night, combined with apparently thin interior walls.

In the heart of the city, next to Plaza del Sol. Lots of great restaurants in the vicinity. Good for visitors to Madrid. Hop on hop off bus just down the street. Good value. Easy walk to most of the sights of Madrid. Maybe a bit noisey at night with people in the hallways. Breakfast included at nice restaurant around...

The Hostel offers rooms with a safe, and are average in size for a short visit. It was a bit hard to find from the street as a sign a few doors down makes it a bit confusing to find. Once inside there is an elevator that you can use, but its so small i missed seeing it and walked...

We stayed 2 days, just a great weekend in Madrid. The absolute plus is the location - 1minute from Puerta del Sol is amazing. Everything is close on foot, so you do not need to buy any tickets (apart from airport). Hotel is small but staff is very friendly and helpful. Great value are breakfasts served in near restaurant. Very...

This hotel was a little hard to find, but once we found it ( there is another Al hambra sign on the next bldg - whih is an old sign they need to take down) it is a gem. Located very close to SOL metro station, where all the shops, and restautrants are. Plenty of activities. All the bus and...

This hotel was perfect for our needs. I was a bit worried with it being called a hostal, however I soon discovered it just means small hotel!! Our room was at the back of the hotel and therefore there was no view! However it meant it was quieter at night. It was very clean. We were given clean towels everyday....

Our family stayed here for two nights in July 2012. We followed other travelers' advice and requested an inside room not facing the busy street which is lined with restaurants and people party late into the night - so we had quiet when we wanted to go to sleep. The hotel's location is great, just a block from the Puerta...

The location of the hotel was its biggest advantage, it is only 50 m from Sol. The rooms were not very big, but really clean, they were disinfected every day. The breakfast was in another building, very close to the main one and it was really nice. the Staff was helpful and I would recommend this hotel to everybody who...

A nice and clean hotel with very friendly staff and a perfect location. A great hotel if you're planning a citytrip. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. Even though the hotel is located in the middle of the center, we didn't heard any noises. It was very quiet and perfect for sleeping. The only disadvantages we can think of...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
