We stayed at the Carlton for one night on a stop over between the airport and Renfe and chose it because of its proximity to the Atocha Station. It is a two minute walk. The room was large by European standards, clean and very modern. There was a flat screen TV and a couple of English language channels to satisfy...

Hotel Carlton (recently purchased by the AC chain) tries hard to be a nice hotel, but unfortunately fails on a number of points. We booked (and paid in advance to get a special rate) months ahead, confirming at that time we would have a large bed rather than two pushed together. I confirmed that by email two weeks before our...

I booked the AC Carlton for an overnight in Madrid as I started my long overland trip home when all planes were gounded because of volcanic ash. AC Carlton is quite close to the Atocha station (so taxi drivers are a bit disgruntled by the short trip) on a main street. I wasn't in the best of moods after being...

I stayed in a superior room on the second floor. Overall ok but would have preferred a hotel more in the centre (Gran Via etc). The staff could have been more attentive when approached rather then wanting to deal with you as quickly as possible (with one exception). However, all speak good English. The area is ok but a little...

My family and I stayed at the AC Carlton in late March and early April of 2010 in two separate stays. The first stay was for 2 nights and I prepaid through Hotels.com. I paid about $100 a night and it was supposed to be a triple. I thought that was awfully cheap but when I got to the hotel...

My husband and I stayed here for one night and were very happy. The hotel is so conveniently close to the train station and it is also close to museums and Puerta del Sol. The Reina Sofia is practically at your doorstep. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We were surprised at how spacious the room and...

We were in this hotel when in Madrid for a congress, and have booked 4 rooms there with my colleagues. We were all so pleased with it: nice large rooms with very large bathrooms; very clean; excellent restaurant with delicious breakfast; good position (close to metro, railway station Attocha, museum Reina Sofia). One limit - no free Internet (is this...

This was my second stay here - so that says something straight away. My main priority was somewhere close to the station as I was stopping overnight to break a long journey from Seville to Tarragona. It ticked all the boxes - comfortable bed, good shower, kettle in the room, quiet despite location on main road, clean. Staff were polite...

My boyfriend and I spent a long weekend in February at the Carlton Hotel, Madrid. The location is ideal for a leisure break, close to the metro, galleries and if you're not adverse to a bit of walking it's not too far from Plaza Mayor and the surrounding bars and restaurants. The hotel was ideal for a leisure break. Hotel...

First, it has been renovated in recent past and is a modern, classy hotel. Support staff are extremely helpful. Great buffet breakfast, which you can get included in room price. Room was extremely large, sheik and comfortable. Hotel is located just several minutes away from one of the major train stations in Madrid. Hence, going for day trip to Toledo...
