Service was great and the room was VERY spacious, my wife and I and our 15 year old daughter. The buffet breakfast was delicious and good service considering it was buffet. Any issues we had they bent over backwards to help you resolve the issues. Their location is close for all the tourist attractions for downtown to walk to.

Last minute change of hotel due to issues with another larger chain (tryp) Great location close to the metro and easy walk to some of the major sights and all for a decent price. Rooms seemed very spacious for such a central location and clean if a little worn around the edges. Related to this one of the major issues... More

We stayed 3 nights in mid October arriving at 10 am after an overnight flight from Canada. I had requested an early check in which was acknowledged with an if available reply. It wasn't so we waited until almost 1pm but it was still earlier than the posted check in time. The front desk staff were very helpful and there... More

Stayed two nights here good location close to main area for everything Hotel rooms clean but basic. Main issue was slight sewerage odour now to be fair to the hotel Im not sure if it's a street problem or hotels? But the hotel way to eliminate this is to use very strong automatic air freshner in bathroom which is very... More

Good breakfast with fresh fruit, juice, muesli, selection of cheese and meat, scrambled eggs, bacon and mushrooms,.. more or less everything for a quick breakfast. Rooms are big but during nights too much noise from the street.

The hotel rooms were clean and modern if a little cramped. The hotel has no bar or restraunt although a fairly good breakfast is served but NO full English! T he location is good not far from the Grand Via and there are bars and restraunts close by. The entrance has 2 very steep staircases, before the lifts and one... More

Excellent location - all of the highlights of the City within a 20-30 minute walk. Only a 5 min walk from the metro station which gives access to the airport in half an hour! Lovely front of house staff - very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet had lots of choice and is great value. Bedroom quite small, perfectly adequate... More

The hotel is totally worn out. The staff upon arrival seemed to have been working 24 hours and kind of blamed people coming to the hotel. We were there as a group, dinner was just to eat something, but the girl working as a waitress was very nice - confident and fine, unlike her colleague at the reception! The location... More

We stayed at the Coloso for 4 days in September then returned for 2 days after spending 4 days in Valencia. The reason for the return is that we were flying from Madrid back to Edinburgh. Just a few words on that - we travelled to Valencia and back on the fast TVG train - a great way to travel... More

I have booked this hotel because it is close to the hotel I usually stay in Madrid (that was fully booked) as it is easy to get to my clients offices in town. Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
