The location is perfect -- steps from the Puerta del Sol. The staff is beyond eager to please (and, thankfully, not obsequious or service). The price is very reasonable and the rooms are lovely with comfortable beds. It's a bit noisy if you leave the windows open, but with the windows closed the rooms are totally soundproof. We stayed here...

My mother was from Madrid and I haven't been in 25 years. My husband and I just returned from 4 nights at the Liabeny and couldn't have been happier with the location, the service and the helpful staff. We had an internal room, which we requested as I feared being so close to the Puerta del Sol and Gran Via...

Very central with well equiped rooms , the bed has the right height (50 cm ) and the bathroom has everything you need. Easy access to buses to visit all the attractions as Madrid is not flat . Also you can use the eurotaxi vehicles equipped with ramps. Very helpful staff and the restaurant is very good solution for the...

We stayed 3 nights in a triple room. The rooms were very large, atypical for the area. The breakfast is a definite must, included many delicious Spanish meats plus all the usual fixings. The staff is very nice and ready to help. Also has a small gym.

Delighted with the hotel. Was perfectly located close to Puerto del sol. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. The room was spacious and clean and the mini bar charges were surprisingly reasonable. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel on our first trip to Spain. We were there during Semana Santa and unfortunately, the hotel did not let us know of the procession that would take place the first night we arrived. We were horribly tired from our flight and ended up going to bed near 11. The procession began at midnight...

I selected this hotel based on reviews. It had AC and free wi-fi, as well. However, the room was warm and we could not get the air to work. We were told it is either heat or air and since it had been cool out they were on heat. They suggested we open a window. The room was uncomfortable for...

The good: the hotel is close to EVERYTHING! The location cannot be beat. The bad: everything else. The rooms are very outdated and not at all like the photos in their marketing. The lobby and entryway are very elegant, but the rooms are straight out of 1965. They were clean, but old and awkward to use. The room layout seemed...

Brilliant, would love to visit again...............superb location, excellent value and great staff - Monica in particular was lovely in the bar area. The hotel has an interesting decor about the place, the bar and the rooms for example have a very old mahogany look to them, but it's all immaculate?!!! The hotel is very comfortable generally and well maintained, good...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
