The location of this hotel is excellent, located very centrally to all of the local theaters and restaurants. The amenities were clean, with a mini kitchenette and facilities for tea and coffee. The bathroom was clean and spacious, enjoyed a lovely bath one evening after a long day. The rooms themselves are of a more traditional decor, but still comfortable....

Spent two night here with my wife. The location is fantastic, close to metro and a short walk to the centre. The room we got was lovely and spacious. The breakfast was OK, but for the price you pay, we expected more although Paco - the breakfast manager - was so helpful and kind! Overall, the hotel is pricey so...

Good hotel for exploring Madrid. Perfect location, rooms are not the most modern but they are really clean and well equipped and the beds are good. Small kitchen area is a bonus if you need it. Great shower too. Staff are efficient and helpful. Easy to get to by metro and felt safe and relaxed here. Would recommend.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and we were happy with the location, just a stones throw from the theatres and transport. The room can do with an update, but we were happy there was a kitchenette, although, strangely, no kettle/jug, but there was a microwave. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a...

The big advantage of this hotel is its perfect location in Gran Via. Staff troughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Room was in the upper floor, quite large, however no views as windows just on the roof. Breakfast was ok, nothing special, but enough to start a new day to discover Madrid. Only negative point : a lot...

Hotel is a bit dated, but the size of apartments (bedroom, bathroom, large living room and kitchenette), amazing location, friendly staff and price are making up for it. Would definitely stay there again and recommend.

The breakfast was nice only Complaint is that the plates where cold so the hot food went cold very quickly, could do with a...

The room was spacious, clean, and modern. The staff was nice enough and the hotel is in a perfect location to get to everything in central Madrid on foot without being in the middle of too much noise.

This location could not be better - super quick walk to any main attractions and great restaurants nearby. Fast wifi and comfy beds. Nice and clean, quite quiet (little bit of noise as people hop on lifts etc but nothing major), friendly staff who always said hola when you walked past. One min away from metro stations and 10 min...

We have gotten this hotel as a part of a package and it appeared to be just what we wanted. It is 2 - 3 minutes away from metro station Plaza de Espana, 10 - 12 minutes from Puerta del Sol, and about 5 minutes more to Plaza Mayor. Our apartment was a studio with a kitchenette. It had a...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
