We stayed for a weekend and the location of the hotel is fantastic! In about 5-10min you're in the plaza mayor or puerta del sol. Room itself was a bit small but that wasn't a problem since the only time spent in the room was to shower and sleep. Staff was very helpful and breakfast was delicious. Cleaning staff took...

Have stayed here and number of times over the years - before and after it becoming an Ibis. Great location and staff - splashed out on a balcony room for a big birthday which was expensive but worth it! Thanks to Carmen and the team - especially for the birthday surprise.

This was a really nice hotel, large rooms, very clean and very nice staff. Breakfast had a good variety of food. Location was perfect, could walk to most places and it was easy to get a train or cab if you needed to.

As soon as I decided to make a quick trip to Madrid, I immediately booked this budget hotel, where I often stayed many years ago. I knew the name and decor had changed, but that the fabulous location would remain the same. For three nights, I enjoyed easy access on foot to major museums and plazas, the royal palace, Retiro...

We stayed at the IBIS in Madrid. It was our first experience staying in an IBIS hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised how nice it was for an "economy" hotel. The rooms were CLEAN, and the staff was extremely friendly. The furnishings in the room are very simple but comfortable. The breakfast was very adequate,,,,, a nice choice of cereals,...

Great hotel! Really central, immaculate and very modern. Rooms clean, TV, coffee good wifi. Nice spacious bathroom. Robes and slippers provided. We upgraded to a superior room and had the added bonus of a roof terrace. Good buffet breakfast. Close to the Santa Ana plaza for food and drinks but head to the Mercado San Miguel for cheap drinks and...

Very good central location ... Most popular places of interest are at a walkable distance with a very touristy (in a nice way) and local vibe around. Ample of Spanish food and drinks around. It's quite walkable to Marcado San Miguel - a food heaven really! Very ibis in every way - average-ibis like breakfast, professional staff happy to assist,...

This boutique-style hotel was perfectly located for walkable access to all the museums we wanted to see in Madrid. Also, the Plaza Sta. Ana is nearby, where social life is ‘round the clock. We never felt unsafe in this neighborhood. Our room was petite, painted with cheery wine-themed designs. The cute furnishings were spare but adequate. The lack of any...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
