My wife and I stayed one night last weekend. It is close to Plaza del Sol, so it is really easy to get there in any kind of public transportation. Room and restroom were clean and comfortable. Desk guys were really nice and helpful in all the questions we asked them. We are glad for being in that place.

We stayed at hotel for 1 night (Saturday, April 26th 2014) and the hotel has the neccesary to sleep 1 night in Madrid. The hotel is near to Estación de Sol Subway Station, to a lot of Bars and to Plaza Mayor. The room is good, but the wifi conection is poor. We recommend this hotel.

I stayed in Madrid last weekend, this hostal is in a great location a 2 minute walk from Sol underground station. It is run by a friendly family who were most helpful. The rooms are clean although basic. The bathroom was small. Our room did overlook the street which could be lively, however I am a good sleeper so the...

I stayed in this hotel last weekend. Location is awesome. And although it is really central, it was perfectly quiet during the night. The hostel is run by a very friendly family. They were so helpful and really lovely. The room was clean and although nothing fancy it was perfect for the budget.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
