This hotel has clean, modern rooms with great showers!! It's central for sightseeing or going out. The staff are friendly and speak basic English. There's a free safe in the room and public internet in the foyer. The hotel had a young crowd though we were there in the middle of Gay Pride.

My heart sank when I saw the room offered to us. On the third try, we got a room that was, at the very best, bordering on "tolerable." We would have bailed out of there in a heartbeat if we could have found other rooms. Nothing available; huge soccer match that weekend and all places fully booked. The rooms are...

We stayed at the PPI Madrid for 3 nights and thought the location was excellent, very close to Metro stops and main tourist areas. The staff were very helpful upon arrival giving information on requesed topics. The room was clean, spacious, and quiet from outside noise apart from the air conditioning, which for me as a light sleeper gave a...

We stayed in this hotel after our originally booked (Petit Palace) hotel unexpectedly shut because of a renovation mishap. Our booking was automatically transferred within the chain and our check-in was easy. Teenagers found the bathroom doors very disconcerting (you can actually see whoever is on the toilet or in the shower!!) but this was resolved by simply pressing the...

The price of the room was great,. But, there were four of us staying in the room, so I was a bit worried before we got to the hotel, that there wouldn't be enough room for us and our luggage. But I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. The room and most importantly for me - the...

We decided to go on a girlfriend getaway to Madrid.. The Metro system is very easy to navigate (easier than NYC) and just as big. Our hotel was located about a block from the metro. The best place to exchange money is either at the airport(no fee) or use the atm. We stayed a Petit Palace Italia Gran Via, a...

I think it is easy to do this in bullet points! . Tiny room with uncomfortable bed. . Too hot. . Nice shower room (stupid size basin with no plug) . Not very clean - last guest's soap in the dish biscuit crumbs on the floor. . Helpful staff . this place was built to look nice, but not to...

The room was not too big but nice and comfy for two people. King size bed, mini-bar, good working internet connection (you need to ask the concierge for an id and a password). Some people expressed their concern over the bathroom door, which was glassy and see-through, but in our case it wasn't a big deal. The balcony over the...

Now this is a good hotel as it is on the oxford street equivalent of madrid, but i have to say, i was sharing with a friend and the bathroom was not private enough for my liking! the rooms are modern and clean, but the en suite had no door that closed, more like a swing to glass door and...

This place is amazing! Rooms are new, modern and clean! Shower is very hi tech and amazing to come home to after a day of sweating! Spacious and balcony is nice! Be warned it is right bang in the red light district so our view from balcony was of the "locals" downstairs. Proved to be fun to watch while having...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
