Let me preface this review by saying that I have stayed in a variety of hostels and have had varying experiences that have thankfully been mostly been positive. When booking hostels, I refer to HostelBookers and other such sites and am usually impressed with their recommendations. Somehow this poor excuse for a hostel is recommended there (or it was when... Amazing location, no doubt. Cheap? yes, really cheap. If you are looking a place to sleep and take a shower this is it. Nothing else. Service was normal, they had a great guy but i don't remember his name now. This is an apartment they turn into a hostel, don't expect more than that. I stayed one night in one floor... More

As you may see online, or as staff members of the hostel may remind you, this is the CHEAPEST hostel in Madrid, from 10E per night. However, this does not include Breakfast, laundry facilities, access to the kitchen or its facilities, including drinking water from 00.00am. FOR THIS PRICE, you will also be rudely woken up every morning, regardless of... More

Hostels in Madrid are like roller coasters. They always start as being the "cheapest in town" until they get bookings and are often full with lots of reviews, then the price increases. They get sold. Owners start over. But I can see that this hostel will be "cheapest in town" for quite some time. I dont think it can survive... More

I don’t truly understand these dissatisfied comments below. I spent 4 nights at the hostel and enjoyed it. The staff was nice and friendly. I got what was advertised on the web page. They never actually said that they have huge lockers in the rooms but they did say that they clean and close the hostel between 11 am and... More

I was in Madrid for 6 days and I stayed in this hostel. The staff was nice and the travellers were nice as well. The place is small by cozy. I like it. I don´t really know why so many people dislike it but I didn´t have a bad experience.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

“Please do not fool yourself, this is not the cheapest, its the worse stay you will ever experience. Nearby there are plenty of hostels available which will ask for a few extra euros and will provide you with a better quality of stay.”
