I had a beautiful room with 3 balconies overlooking a lively intersection. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. The location was perfect, situated between Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. You can walk to almost anyplace of interest in central Madrid. I cannot imagine a better hotel. It is picturesque yet functional. Absolutely wonderful.

We have now stayed here three times, and will return again soon. This hotel is situated in an unbeatable location, right next to the Plaza Mayor in the old city streets. Great little, boutique, establishment with very extremely attentive and helpful staff !

This is an ideally placed hotel for exploring Madrid. It is right in the centre, is very comfortable (especially the mattresses) and full of character. The hotel is a picture from the outside and cleverly converted inside. It can be a bit noisy from the outside so if you like more peace you might have to move out from this...

The hotel is just off the Plaza Major. It's a 10 -15 minute walk to the art museum district and in the opposite direction the same to the palace and the central food market, all of which are a must when visiting Madrid. We had a room for three people with a set of bunk beds. The room was lovely...

I booked this hotel for a surprise long weekend for my husband's birthday. We arrived at noon on a Saturday, completely jet lagged with a 3 and 5 year old in tow. The front desk workers were very helpful and got us checked into our room expeditiously. The room was very clean and well appointed, and the location couldn't be beat!

The only reason I dont rate this hotel as excellent, is because it doesn't have certain amenities or common areas you would find in larger hotels. This is the perfect comfortable and centrally located hotel for those who do not want to spend that extra money it will cost you at a full service hotel (Example Hesperia, Melia, etc). It...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
