I like the hotel's central location - just few steps from Gran Via with great shopping options. Right near the Santo Domingo metro station, walking distance to Plaza de Espana - and fairly quick trip from/to airport with one transfer only. Rooms are clean but the overall feeling is like decaying premises, especially bathroom. In my case substandard cleaning too.... More

It's a nice small hotel in a very central position of Madrid. We managed to walk nearly to all the sights and barrios we wanted to visit, which was great. It is a bit shabby and worn down for a 4 star hotel and the bathroom doors most definitely need some fixing because there is no privacy at all. Otherwise... More

This hotel was just perfect for a city break in Madrid. The room was very clean, very well serviced, and spacious, and, for city hotel, very quiet. In fact, the room was absolutely silent with a view of the hanging gardens of the inner space of the hotel...most unusual. The hotel was excellently located so that all the main attractions... More

Great location for a city break as we were able to walk to all the major attractions. The hotel provided everything we needed even though the room lacked space as it was too cold to use the outdoor area.

Nice, clean and well-kept. The staff really took pride in helping their guests! Excellent youghurt at breakfast. Wonderfully firm beds. Great homely atmosphere that really eases the pain with business travel. The central staircase is an architectural hidden gem :)

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenagers) stayed here for 3 nights in a family room. It served our purposes perfectly. Not a fancy room, but very comfortable (especially the beds) and more than adequate for a city break when you spend minimal time in your room. Ideally located for getting to the major sites, on foot. Great breakfast... More

An hotel where you get at least what is expected. We did not need so much help with routes to go etc,, but would have gotten it if we asked. Friendly staff, good food, nice bed! Very close to the Santo Domingo Metro. You can reach a lot just by walking as well.

We stayed in a quad room with our teenager for3 nights. Staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast at 11 Euro was good value as buffet had lots of choice. Only big drawback for first 2 days was no aircon so far too hot in the room, I know we weren't the only complainers and it was turned back... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
