We stayed here for 4 nights in September and really enjoyed this place. It is so central, you do not need a taxi or metro at all. The apartment was clean, modern and had everything you need for a short city trip. Air-conditioned as well. It would not be suitable for small children though and it can get noisy, especially...

Stayed in this apartment for 4 nights and would not recommend it at all especially for anyone stayin with children. The area around the apartment is full of prostitutes, the apartment above is let out to the prostitutes for them to bring clients back to. This results in people walking/down the stair/lifts. This takes place all day/night. During the night...

We love this apartment. Its in a very central location, close to Sol and Gran Via. There are many food and shopping choices available, and several convenience store nearby. Its about 2 minutes to metro station. The owner was very friendly and even gave us a free bottle of wine on our first night. The room itself was spacious and...

We have just returned from a long weekend in Madrid staying in the apartments at Caballero de Gracias. You can walk to almost anywhere from the apartments - they are 2 minutes from a main shopping area, 2 minutes from a Madrid Vision tour bus stop, 5 mins from Puerto del Sol & Plaza Mayor - 10 mins to the...

Perfect for an independent break in Madrid. Fully equipped studio apartment only a few metres from the Gran Via metro stop and a 5 minute walk from Puerta del Sol. (The metro is extremely easy to navigate.) A lovely restaurant and bar and a small grocery shop on the same street to keep the fridge fully stocked with vino and...

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
