My only positive comment about the Mergellina is that it's not dirty. It's definitely dingy though - clearly it's been many decades since the place was last renovated, and everything feels old and grey and run-down, especially in the common areas. The rooms themselves are OK, I guess, but they have a bit of an army barracks feel, without any...

The biggest draw for me was the low price of the hostel. First, the location is west of the center of the city which is reachable by bus in about 10-15 minutes, the neighborhood when I visrited was noisy due to construction happening literally right across the street from the hostel. So I was woken up nearly every morning by...

Went to Naples with another girl - Naples has a reputation for being rough and dangerous, so stayed in Mergellina. Booked two nights originally, stayed 6. Simple rooms, simple breakfast and good service.

My friend recommended this place because of its location and I must say, the view was beautiful and the location was good so no problems there. The rooms were comfortable and the price was very reasonable so again, no problems there. My main concern had to do with what seemed to be a charge for the essentials that other youth...

We spent three nights at this hostel and were very unimpressed. We had a private room for two with an ensuite. The room had double bunks that were very hard and uncomfortable. The room was so small I could not even stretch out my arms in the space between the bed and the other wall. The weather was very warm...

Friendly staff, plenty of space, big screen public tv, they charge for internet, mostly clean, very affordable, the only real downside is it is very difficult to get to. As of 7/09 it was in the middle of a giant construction site up on a hill. not far from the train station, however. good value.

I stayed in 2007, so there is a chance its been renovated or something by now - but not likely. Staff were lovely, cable TV in the lounge/reception area and places to sit in and around the hostel. But the hostel is at the top of a big hill and doesnt look very nice. Not too far from the train...

Rooms The cost was so low that I paid double (18 x 2 = 36) per night in order to have my own room. The view was amazing since you are at the top of a large hill, so I was overlooking the Mediterranean. Beautiful! The room had a strange smell so I kept the window open as much as...

Just come back from a university trip to Naples, stayed at the Ostello Mergellina for 4 nights. After reading other reviews we were a bit worried but after staying there were pleasantly surprised. The hostel staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, the showers were hot, no ants or other insects in the rooms, a few cats...
