My only positive comment about the Mergellina is that it's not dirty. It's definitely dingy though - clearly it's been many decades since the place was last renovated, and everything feels old and grey and run-down, especially in the common areas. The rooms themselves are...More
The biggest draw for me was the low price of the hostel. First, the location is west of the center of the city which is reachable by bus in about 10-15 minutes, the neighborhood when I visrited was noisy due to construction happening literally right...More
Went to Naples with another girl - Naples has a reputation for being rough and dangerous, so stayed in Mergellina. Booked two nights originally, stayed 6. Simple rooms, simple breakfast and good service.
My friend recommended this place because of its location and I must say, the view was beautiful and the location was good so no problems there.
The rooms were comfortable and the price was very reasonable so again, no problems there.

When I went last year there was wifi in the lobby, and though they claimed that it existed in the rooms too, this was not true. This is not surprising considering how incredibly uncomfortable the room was in comparison with what is promised. There was no air conditioning and we had to rearrange the furniture so as to be able to place the tiny fan facing us so that we wouldn't die of heat stroke. We only stayed at this place for two nights before we forfeited our reservation to stay in a much cleaner and new place, and the money lost (though they didn't tell us it would be lost until we checked out, though we were told otherwise beforehand) was well spent.
