We were very welcomed by the owner Oniqe who even met us downstairs and helped with our luggage. We were promptly checked in and given a map of Rome and explained to us which buses to catch etc. Very helpful and spoke English very well. We had booked the double bedroom with ensuite which was very spacious and the bathroom...

After reading the reviews, some ones good some ones not that good, I decided to book this B&B for the convenience, close to the metro, train stations and activities. And especially for the price. I was worried because my airplane arrived later at night and take about 55 min to get from the airport to the terminal (by the way,...

First of all, it's a tough job finding this hotel. After going up and down Via Varese for about 15 minutes someone pointed to an apartment building. And sure enough, one of the apartments was 'Lucky House'. We didn't expect this at all! So we take the really tiny elevator and a young chap opens the door for us. We...

Me and my boyfriend booked this hotel for a short stay (3 nights) in the beautiful city of Rome. At first we were very skeptical as we paid so little for our stay in Lucky House. We couldn't find the place as it seems to merge in with a block of apartments that other people rent out, however in no...

A lovely wee place but very basic and a bit disappointed the bathroom was not en suite. Good location and comfy bed my mum enjoyed having the wee kitchen to use to make coffee. Great wee choice of restaurants close by too. Staff polite and helpful 😉

Once you found the address, someone will accommodate you with good gestures and greetings, and asks you soon for additional prices without receipt for taxes or anything, room is daily visited to be fixed and cleaned without notice, so privacy interrupted and seems there is a need to leave in the morning for some maintainance, every noise is heard from...

I did want to put good not average but this isn't a choice! I read the last few reviews for Lucky House with some trepidation- no one being there when you arrived & cash being demanded on arrival so I decided to look into it further. I booked through Travel Republic & received no contact details for Lucky House so...

I never write reviews but after I stayed one night on my way through Rome I feel I have to. If I could rate a 0 i would. The owner arrived only after I had the receptionist at an unrelated hotel next door personally call if he had not called I have no idea how I would have been able...

The location was convenient to the central station, but understandably isn't the best area in town, although very secure through 2 lots of gates. The room was clean and quiet although the shower head was broken. The breakfast comprised of 'help yourself to coffee (boil your water in a pan), a plain biscuit and a funny little cake'. There were...

My daughter was stuck in Rome due to a flight cancellation and stayed here as it was close to the train station for a early morning train. I booked a room online through Travelocity and online credit card payment was required online immediately, which I made. When my daughter arrived at the hotel, they refused to give her a room...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
