The location of the hotel is absolutely great - it's slightly hidden in the lively Trastevere neighborhood - just a 10-15 minute walk from Campo dei Fiori, 30 min walk to Vatican and so on. The hotel itself is beautiful - especially the inner courtyard...More
I've stayed in many lovely hotels all over the world, but this remains my favorite! We stayed here for almost a week on our first trip to Rome, and we came back for a short stop on our way to Cinque Terre. The hotel is...More
Loved our stay here. From the moment we arrived the breathtakingly facade. We were awe struck as we walked through the cloisters. Our room had so much character. Walk up to the roof terrace for amazing views of Rome. Sit in the beautiful garden for...More
We had a very pleasant stay here. Trastevere is a great location. Brilliant for food and drink and not too far from most of the sights. The hotel is stunning! Impressive building and friendly staff. Our room was comfortable with a good bed and bathroom...More
This is a beautiful old building, former convent with a chapel attached, a delightful garden and very friendly and welcoming staff. Rooms can be small (you might want to see first in you are particular) and the breakfast (included in our stay) is nothing special...More

Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable
eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.

We stayed at the VOI Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel last September. You can walk from the train station, although that is not something I would choose to do with luggage given the distance, the condition of many of the side walks (cobblestone), and the fact that the hotel is located at the top of a hill in Trastevere. I recommend a taxi.
