Arrived late and in need of a place to stay. Staff were uninterested in checking guests in, lest it disturb their quiet time. He turned out to be amazingly rude (and frankly, I'm generally a pretty patient person). Finally got a room, but there was no hot water. Went out, and the guy was asleep on the couch in the... More

I stayed in this hotel 2 nights, the room was clean and comfortable if a little run down and in need of renovation. The breakfast was a good coffee, commercial croissants and a fruit flavoured drink that may have once originated from a citrus fruit. Hot water from the shower arrived eventually, the second day I turned on the shower... More

So first up, location is fantastic and the room was shabby but clean, quite small with the usual two singles pushed together for a double but we had a fridge and there was a "roof terrace" just for us. On the down side, we only managed one warm shower in four days and that involved getting up at 7am before... More

I had boked a double room here for one night. They also gave me a confirmation per e-mail When we turned up it was closed. The people in the neighbourhoo said that it has been closed for weeks. I went by the help of a very helpful neighbour to the police in Trastevere and reported it. The good thing was... More

We were at this hotel in Trastevere in July. If you are looking for a swanky place, this may not be for you. But, I would definitely stay here again simply because of the location-- which is fabulous. The women at the counter at breakfast and those who clean the rooms are incredibly nice and hard working. Breakfast is pretty... More

We had booked this hotel through the hotel website and were nervous because we were coming it very late at night. But, when we arrived, we were greeted with a cheerful, "you must be Mr. X!" We had no problems getting a room. The hotel is certainly a little run down and the breakfast is pretty basic. However, it is... More

Having stayed at several mid-priced tourist hotels in central Rome over the years, we had heard it all before. “Lost booking”. “Did you not receive our e-mail?” “We have no record of your reservation”, and the apparently increasingly frequent “A guest has been taken ill and cannot leave his room.” Then an offer is presented the shaken tourist; a room... This is an okay hotel in a fantastic area of Trastavere. The hotel itself is fine, pretty basic but you do pay a lot for what you get, and don't expect much customer service. All that aside, it satisfied our requirements and as the location was great, I would return.

We enjoyed our home away from home, right in the heart of Trastevere. What a treat to be just steps away from so many great restaurants, squares and bars, with the charming village feel of that neighborhood. Our room was large by European standards - we rented both a triple and a quad, and there was plenty of room to... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
