The Holiday Inn Rome - Eur Parco Dei Medici wins praise for its impeccable cleanliness and the warm, professional service provided by its staff. However, opinions on its location are split; it's appreciated by those valuing proximity to transport and the airport, but others find its distance from central Rome lessens the hotel's overall value. Guests enjoy the quaint 70s charm and the range of amenities, including a lauded breakfast buffet and shuttle service. But it's worth noting some guests have experienced issues with soundproofing in the otherwise comfortable rooms.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at this Holiday Inn which belongs to a Czech Pension chain CPI Hotels.
Pension was apparently completely renovated.

Check-out we received room 325 which is right next to 3 elevators, which make an abnormal noise, as if they were banging against something while operating. Impossible to sleep before 2am and noise around 5am!!
The next morning we asked to change rooms , which was granted without problem.

We received room 312, large room with safe and fridge, modern bathroom, all very clean.

Buffet breakfast is very decent, dinner in the evening is decent too, à la carte dinner.

We ordered 1 evening 2 sea bream, they were hearty and the accompaniment very well. The Chef de rang, a certain Luigi, very attentive, friendly, speaking French cleaned us the fish like a real professional, that he is.

There is the train to the city( and airport) 10 minutes walk from the Pension, Muratella Station, a train every 15 minutes. We had a transport card valid for 48 hours and unlimited journeys, Award 12.50 Eur valid on metros, buses, trams and regional trains in the region of Rome,
Map valid from Muratella station to the centre of Rome.

Pros:
Size and cleanliness of the room, nice pool, staff at
Listen, especially Chef Luigi, breakfast buffet and dinner.

Cons:

The soundproofing of the room next to the elevators
The Airport Check-out Shuttle to the Pension which arrived 19 minutes late! Luckily it wasn't the other way around where she was on time.
No power outlet at bed level!!! which can be a problem if you have to connect a device like me a CPAP for severe sleep apnea. Luckily I had read on this site in a comment that there was none and I took with me to travel an extension cord.

So overall, satisfied with my stay. I will return there on a future trip to Rome

The overall stay was average for a number of reasons. Being an IHG member for many years and staying in different properties across the globe, this was not an IHG experience.

We booked two rooms for 3 nights.
Talking about the rooms, you have limited sockets to charge your phones and other accessories. The sockets were only available near the TV.

The breakfast was included in my package, but they have a policy and you are not allowed to take any fruits outside. We had small kids and we took bananas. The restaurant manager stopped us and asked not to take bananas along and she was very rude. I have stayed in various IHG hotels, in Paris, USA and in India. I never had such an awful experience. Later when complained, they apologized and came back with the bananas.

Location of the property is not suited for those commuting through public transport. It is far away from the city center, it takes an hour to reach to the main attraction points either through bus or train.

Dear 480vijays, Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent experience in our hotel. We appreciate and thank you for your loyalty and for being one of our IHG One Rewards members. As a member you are of extreme importance to us. I have investigated thoroughly with our heads of department whole matter and would like to share with you a few points. As regards to the breakfast at the restaurant, I will explain the issue of questioned bananas and our internal policy. Breakfast is considered as a meal and consumed in the restaurant, where it is served. This policy is not anything new, and every hotel has a similar one. We have placed information panels in the restaurant area explaining this to our guests. We are a little bit surprised to learn about your dissatisfaction on the location of the hotel. By confirming your booking you were aware about the site where the hotel stands and what were the services offered. Our hotel is set up for business meetings and congresses able to host up to 600 people. It is a 4 stars hotel and has all the benefits that an hotel of this category can offers. If you were looking for a site in the centre of Rome with shops and restaurants open until late in the evening, this is not the place. In any case, regarding the transportation, the hotel bus runs on a regular basis during the day but you need to reserve your seat 24 hrs before. With the shuttle you can reach the nearest metro station and in 20 minutes discover all the main attractions in the heart of Rome (the ticket for Metro is included in the bus fare). Otherwise, there is a public bus which is available just at the exit of the hotel to reach downtown which is only 12 km far from our Hotel and the taxi station available 24/7H Guest feedback is most valuable tool we have. Whilst yours is an isolated one, nevertheless we will continue to evaluate our procedures to ensure that our standards are not only upheld but improved on for each subsequent visit of our guests. Once again, thank you for your thoughtful comments. We look forward to the opportunity of serving you in the future. Kind regards Roberta Assistant to the General Manager & Guest Relations Manager

Reception and room service staff were excellent. Breakfast had wide variety and was sumptuous. The location is bit outside the city but is well connected to train, taxis are also readily available. However this property needs serious retrofit of acoustic insulation lest you want to wake up funny noises of people from adjacent rooms.

We went to Rome in route to a cruise for a girls trip. We stayed at this hotel because it was not far from the airport and they had shuttle service on the arrival but on the departure you had to pay $10 euros per person. They had a restaurant on site and the staff was friendly. There is also a pool for guest to use. We were located in a good neighborhood not far for scenery. There was also a local train across the street from the hotel the hotel sold tickets for the rides. They also gave us a map for local dining and shopping which was a plus.

It’s a nice hotel, almost an airport hotel, about 15 minutes by car. The hotel has a shuttle that’ll pick you up at the airport (free, and runs at certain scheduled times, so, not 24/7) the shuttle
Will also take you back for €10 a person (kids are free, also at certain times, not 24/7).
Nice clean rooms, decent breakfast (although. If you are used to traditional American Eggs/bacon breakfast, you won’t find much to eat, bacon tasted like rubber, to be honest, and the eggs were never cooked properly, either undercooked or overcooked-scrambled eggs); but a great selection of deli meats, cheeses, breads, croissants, fresh whole fruits. Pistachio croissants are amazing. Very very small coffee cups at the coffee machine in the restaurant. We started bringing coffee mugs from the hotel room to breakfast, they were a bit bigger.
Courteous staff at the front desk. Helpful. Dinner staff at the restaurant is great, especially Luigi. Great guy, professional, very knowledgeable.
With all that being said: your entire stay in this hotel, and ultimately, your experience about Rome will solely depend on public transportation. The hotel is entirely outside of the city, in a business area with conferences centers/buildings around. There is not a single restaurant or a grocery store around, nothing. There is a small train station (Muratella) next to the hotel, about a 5-minute walk (you MUST buy tickets at the front office, there is no ticket machine at the station). Anyway, a train from Muratella to a subway is about 20 minutes and then 2 stops by subway (5 min) and you are right outside of Coloseum, walking to everywhere you need to go. Pantheon, Vatican etc. so, maybe 35 minutes from the hotel to everything Rome has to offer. Not too bad and doable with older kids. BUT!!!! With that being said, if there is a public transportation strike in the city, you are done. It happened to us. There was a road/construction work on that only train line connecting the hotel to the city for all 4 days we were in Rome. Then one day a public demonstration at the train station (Ostiense) in Rome from where you would head back to the hotel, blocking buses’ access to the station…35 minutes one way turned into 2 hours one way, or 4 hours round trip…yes, you can take a taxi, of course, which would run a nice bill.
So, with all that, that is the only down point for the hotel, its sole dependence on the public transportation. The hotel does offer a shuttle that can take you to the subway station (instead of the train). Also runs at certain times (I think the earliest is 10am) and it costs €10
Per person (kids are free). Again, there are options if the public transpiration is down, but they’ll either take your time or $$€€.
Also, there was only one USB port in our room (that was broken) and only one power outlet which was used by the tea kettle. If we needed charge our phone, we had to unplug the kettle and plug in our stuff. So, bring an charging wall block with multiple USB ports so you can charge 2 phones at once and tablet and etc

Modern out town hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights while spending time in Rome to visit the sites.

Whilst the hotel is on the outskirts of Rome the facilities and price made us choose it.

Whilst some might be put off by the location. The hotel is very close to a train station that we used to take in to the centre each day. The hotel sells train tickets which allow you to use the train for 100 minutes from the time you validate them. You do this by stamping them in the machines in the platform before you take your first train each day. The ticket cost 1.5 euro per person. So 3 euro return. Just make sure you validate it before you travel. We got train to Roma Ostinate and then metro line B to colosseum.

The hotel room was a large family room with two king size beds.

The restaurant is very large and offers a huge selection of breakfast choices. In the evening their is a more limited selection but the pasta is very very reasonable cost and very filling. The kids loved it as did we. We are in the restaurant every night.

Overall a fantastic stay.

Well-kept structure, convenient parking even if you pay separately, good cleanliness of the rooms, only a few distractions when using the services - the kettle cannot be used because the shuko socket is not included in the connections - comfortable hall for conversing and relaxing. The international breakfast was excellent and the service of dear Mrs. Mina❤ was special, always attentive to the needs of the guests as well as attentive to the service and management of the Metre. Overall we liked it.

It's a nice 4 star hotel but far from city center. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 kids. They had a very convenient shuttle bus pick up from the airport. The shuttle bus was big and could easily accommodate 8 pax and 8 bags. The airport may be around 15 mins by shuttle. The hotel is a nice 4 star hotel with great breakfast variety. They have nice cabanas all around the pool where we could sit with our snacks and drinks to chill in the evening. The staff at reception was quick and helpful with our needs and helped us how to conveniently navigate around rome. We booked a family room which was huge as per italy standards and had 2 comfortable queen beds to accommodate 4 of us. Great aircon cooling and perfect shower tempreture and pressure. It's more like a business hotel. The hotel is 5 mins walking to muratella regional train station which has good connectivity to the other regional stations and to the metro underground trains which connects to diffrent important sight seeing places. The tickets have to be bought from hotel reception and cost 1.5 euro each and is valid for 100 mins of journey in regional and metro trains. Do not forget to validate the tickets on the station before your journey. The centre is around 30 mins by taxi and can cost around 25 to 30 euros one way. Taxis are easily available just outside the hotel. Overall a great property at a great price. Do check the time tables of regional trains for quick connections.

Cons:
The property is located in middle of nowhere. It seems to be an abandoned area but not at all unsafe, atleast till you are back before night. We never tried going out after dark.

We spent a night here, prior to an early morning flight.

The hotel is located a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport (flat rate at 31 Euros).

We checked in at 22:45. Check in was quick and courteous and we immediately received the 500 IHG bonus points as Platinum members.

We were allocated room 303, which was big enough, smelled of mold/cigarette smell, featured 2 beds, a night stand, a minibar, a table and coffee table, 3 chairs and a view to the swimming pool.
There was no safe in the room.
As the “non-smoking” room was reeking, we had to keep the window open until we went to sleep (it was too noisy to sleep with the window open).

The small bathroom featured a tub with a good water pressure, a toilet, bidet and sink.
The bathroom amenities were a mixture of Aroma and Dermomed.

Bottom line – this is an OK Holiday Inn 3-star hotel, which is only suitable for a quick night sleep prior to an early flight, as its location is irrelevant for Rome tourists.

Dear TheShis, Thank you for sharing your experience during your recent stay in our hotel. We thank you for your comments but we are a little bit surprised to learn about your dissatisfaction on the room quality and the facilities. Due to an evening flight that was then 2hrs delayed, we ended up booking this hotel last minute instead of trying to sort car hire and find our rental house late at night. I chose it for airport proximity and the pool, which my kids really wanted to use. It was the best decision we could have made.. staff were helpful and efficient in booking via email/phone. A bit expensive but also last minute on our part.

Arriving just before 3am with kids and shattered after a long day of travel, our front desk welcome was friendly and welcoming, efficient check in and with excellent (English) communication. Our double queen bed room was very comfortable, the breakfast was well stocked, and even though their swimming pool was unavailable due to works (advertised in advance on their website before we arrived, thankfully), we were given comp passes (plus towels) to the next door pool instead which I was hugely grateful for - this kept my water babies very happy while my husband returned to the airport to sort car hire! The airport shuttle charged €10 which is expensive and had to be pre-booked (which I've never heard of) but the staff were very accommodating and helpful to him, even giving him a lift in their own car as he was the only passenger requiring transport back to the airport at that time.

We were heading down the coast away from Rome, so cannot comment on what public transport from there to the city was like, but from my research there seemed to be a bus or train that served the road the hotel is on, and therefore this seems to be a good option if heading into the city IMHO (best do your research though, don't take my word for it!).
Overall we had a great experience and would stay here again. Recommended for families.

Response from , Owner at Holiday Inn Rome - Eur Parco Dei Medici, an IHG Hotel
Responded 25 Jul 2023
Dear Getaway30114901810, First of all, thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Rome. We have read your comments very carefully and we thank you for the compliments addressed to our reception staff. We always help our clients any time of the day. We want your stay to be a pleasant one. All our staff is at your disposal to give you assistance and to make your stay as stress-free as possible: you are our guest and we want you to have the best possible experience. As for the swimming pool apart from the ordinary maintenance this year it was necessary to add some hard works which were not estimated before. This is the cause of the delay for the opening. We will do our best to ultimate them in July. We are very pleased that you will be returning to our property again. Looking forward to welcoming you back to see the new "swimming pool"! Warm regards Roberta Assistant to the General Manager & Guest Relations Manager
