Welcoming staff and swift checking in/out procedure. Very convenient location close to Termini. However the room, even if large, had stained and old carpet. It had a very dirty feel about it and the furniture was old too. Also I was not asked if I preferred a twin or double room and was given a twin room. I was unable... More

A good hotel in a good location with good facilities. However the staff stop it going from good to great. Apart from 1 barman (Michael) the staff were either rude or miserable. This included the staff at breakfast (must be the only hotel in Europe with no muesli), reception and at the the bar. Lowlight was when my wife got... More

The location is very good, 5 minutes walk from Termini station, 3 minutes to subway, 2 minutes to bus station. Food is abundant around the area. For tourist, Colosseum is just 15 minutes by slow walk and everything else can reach by foot if u r strong. Haha. For the breakfast buffet, it's quite standard, it's a big dining room... More

I stayed here for three nights at the recommendation of a friends who frequently uses this hotel. In addition to its facilities it has the benefit of being five minutes walk from Termini Rail, Metro and Bus Station so good links to the airport train/bus and the main sites. Hop on/off tour buses stop at Termini. In spite of its... More

We made this reservation with only a day's notice and we loved it. The people were extremely friendly, the location was great for us -- only a couple of blocks away from the Termini Station, it was within walking distance of many historic landmarks, and restaurants surrounded the hotel. Really great.

The large sized rooms allowed the three of us enough space to be comfortable. The hotel was a short walk from the Rome train terminus and the hop on hop off bus service, so it was very convenient, very centrally located. The staff was warm, welcoming and very helpful in directing us how to move around the city. A lot... More

We booked our trip 10 days before we left, so our choices for hotels were slim, but the Starhotels Metropole did not disappoint! Beautiful rooms, gorgeous bathroom, comfortable beds, and the breakfast included was amazing! I have never seen such an elaborate array of foods at a hotel ever. Fresh, and tasty! And delicious cappuccino on request! Great location, too!

Our arrival at the 4 star Starhotels Metropole near the central railway station in Rome provided a double surprise. We had just got out of the cab, paid the 42.50 euros by credit card and walked into the bright lights of the foyer only to discover we had actually just parted with 425 euros. The reception team at the hotel... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
