The Hotel Doria was an average place to stay on our recent four night break in Rome. Rooms were very clean and the location of the hotel is perfect to get around the city on foot. The bathroom was VERY, VERY small, even by city hotel standards, and the shower was almost not usable, it was smaller than 3' square...

We spent five days in Hotel Doria and were delighted with the location, cleanliness and comfort of the hotel, not to mention the great Valentine's deal at £54 per couple per night. Transport links are excellent as it is just a five minute walk from Termini.Lots of cafes and shops are on the doorstep. Although our room (303) overlooked the...

We have just come back from two nights in Rome, stopping at the Doria Hotel. The hotel is lovely, it is immaculately clean and nicely decorated, there is plenty of choice for breakfast. I have read before that the lift is possibly the smallest in the country, I would have to agree with this however, it was not a problem,...

We had searched the internet for a reasonable priced hotel which was handy for all the attractions and the underground. We eventually found it in the Doria. The hotel was very clean and tidy, tastefully decorated, if you like green, and the staff were always very friendly and accommodating. We arrived at about 11.30 at night and were slightly concerned...

After trawling the internet for a reasonably priced hotel in Rome, we decided on the Doria. What a find! the room was spotless, the staff very helpful and friendly and it was situated in a nice area within walking distance of all the main attractions (although, unlike us, you may want to get a bus or the metro to and...

We stayed at the Doria Hotel for 5 days in late September and early October. The hotel was clean and comfortable. There is a bus stop right outside the front door that will take you to the train station to connect with busses all over Rome. Or, the hotel is close enough to walk to the Termini. Nice location very...

I stayed at the hotel Doria with my girlfriend for four nights in sept 2005. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, they lent us an umbrella when it was raining etc. The location is good, close to the Main Station (and connected by a bus literally outside the door). All tourist attractions are within walking distance although you may...

The hotel is close to the central train station and is easy to find. Staff seemed very helpful and friendly regarding different tourist questions I had. I stayed in a single room. Room was very clean and quiet. Only problem is the size of the shower cubicle - it's hard to wash yourself without bumping the water hotter or colder....

We stayed at the Hotel Doria after reading all the good reviews and getting a good rate (90EUR) on one of the discount travel websites. The room was spotless clean, the bed was firm and the minibar reasonably priced. Air conditioning worked well and was not too noisy. We had a room facing the main street, which I loved for...

Based on the other comments from this site, my husband and I booked a room at the Doria. It definitely met our expectations: a few minutes walk from Termini, centrally-located, clean, and comfortable. Just a note on the Termini neighborhood: Although it is very convenient for subway travel and travel to & from the airport, it is a somewhat crummy-looking....

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
