The Marcella Royal is a gem of a hotel, a little off the beaten track but it doesn't suffer for that. Rome has an excellent public transport system and the Marcella is not far fom the major bus routes. The reception area is bright and welcoming with excellent staff who are quite happy to arrange bookings and to give advice....

This hotel was ok. The rooms were very basic and the decor was dreadful. The staff was not very helpful when we asked them for directions or to make dinner reservations for us. The location is pretty good but its still a cab ride away from where you'll want to go to eat and see the sites. They have a...

Don't let the sagging sofas and chairs with the heavy brocade and fringe in the lobby that look like they've been around since Caesar ruled put you off. This hotel has a (mostly) gracious staff, clean affordable rooms and a terrific breakfast. This is my second stay (I was here in August) and during both visits, I was pleased though...

If you're offered this hotel as part of a reasonably priced package, take it – but with one very, very big condition: you must insist that the management do not give you a room with connecting doors (5 or is it 10?) out of the 90-odd rooms have these. You can hear literally everything from the other room – a...

We stayed here for 10 days recently and were more than happy. The hotel is in a residential area, a bit outside the centre (though close enough to walk everywhere if you like walking - we did!). However, if you don't want to walk too much, 8-10 minutes will take you to the metro and train stations. The flip side,...

The lobby looks nice but the room was not so nice. The carpet was dirty, stained and did not match the horrible wallpaper. The "chandelier" was ridiculous looking, and the bathroom was very busy with brown and white stripes and cracked tile. The doors and cabinet woodwork looked like fake wood from old mobile homes. The "air-conditioning" was really only...

We have stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is well located, in a quiet area. Room was clean and fairly big. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was mediocre, although the restaurant is placed on a terrace with an excellent view! Overall it was an enjoyable experience!

We stayed for a week. The room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Not very quiet inside or out though. Lots of noise from outside in the street. Shame there were not any comfortable chairs in the room either, especially as you have to walk for at least 20-25 to the main attractions. (wear good walking shoes). The breakfast...

We stayed as a couple for a few nights and found the overall experience very good. 1. Location: The hotel is within walking distance of Via Veneto (shopping and cafe street) and Termini Station (the main train station in Rome). It isn't close to the main tourist areas but you can easily take a hop-on, hop off bus from termini...

We have stayed at this hotel twice. It's in a quiet location and is close to several excellent restaurants. It's also within walking distance of the main train station, as well as metro and bus stops. The hotel staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. Each night they made excellent dining recommendations for us and booked us with reservations. The hotel...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
