My boyfriend and I recently visited Rome and stayed at the Best Western Mondial (July 16-22). Like the previous review mentions, it's in a good location. We took the Express from Leonardo da Vinci airport (roughly 1/2 hour) then walked to the hotel which took about 10-15minutes. Located just off Via Nazionale, it's surrounded by restaurants and there's a SPAR...

My wife and I recently stayed at the Best Western Hotel Mondial for one week (July 1-8, 2006). We found the hotel to be an excellent choice, especially for visitors who plan on spending most of their time on the go. Location: The location is excellent. The hotel is located about 3 blocks from the Termini Station, meaning visitors can...

We spent 2 weeks in Italy and decided to stay somewhere simple in Rome as we were not intending to spend much time in the room as there is so much to see. The room was clean and had all the amenities necessary for our stay although it was quite dark. Unfortunately it was a little further from the centre...

Good and safe location. Hotel located close to metro and termini station. Most tourist areas are in walking distance. Oldish hotel, decor of room slighly depressing but reasonable size. Safe in room. Teamaking facilities have to be requested. Breakfast reasonable and staff helpful. Rome is expensive regarding hotels. It was OK but it is not my idea of a 4...

In a city known for ridiculously high hotel rates, I booked a prepaid, non-refundable double room rate of 148.75 Euros/night at the Best Western Mondial on Best Western's website for our stay in June 2006. At this rate, frankly, I certainly did not expect the Ritz but was pleasantly surprised upon arriving at the hotel. As promised, the hotel is...

I am going to have to agree with a previous guest - the hotel is disappointing, to say the least. According the website and booking agent, Mondial was listed as a 4 Star hotel, and it was far from it! The lobby looked like 3 stars, at most, but from then on it goes downhill....The service was terrible, concierges were...

Wow - after reading the previous reviews, I have a feeling that some rooms have been remodeled and some have not. Our room was terrific - tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Only blocks from the train station and in the middle of Rome, but we had no problems with street noise. We arrived early at about 11:30AM, and the staff...

We booked the Best Western Mondial for four nights starting June 1 and only stayed one night, and even that was only because we couldnt cancel it earlier. The location is ok, not the best in Rome. The only good thing is, thats its by the Termini train station, other than that you have to walk, take a train or...

Very good hotel, excellent and safe location, short walks to both the metro and termini station, good sized room. Breakfast fine. Negatives: hotel is old and looks a bit tired; no proper room service and tea making facilities have to be requested. Would definitely stay here again.

Don't agree. This is an old hotel, with a depressing decor even in the areas that have been refurbished. Bathroom (actually a shower room) tired and cramped, though the shower was good. Room OK but nothing special. Aircon worked well but quite noisy. Room at the back was quiet for central Rome: colleagues said the front was noisy. Breakfast in...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
