The Kolbe was our home for a week in Rome, and after a noisy hotel in Paris and a dirty hotel in Nice, we were glad we spent the money for a lovely place. We arrived at night, and were so pleased to open our blinds the followng morning and look up at the Roman Forum right outside our window....

The hotel was very nice, I was able to walk to most of the main attractions, the breakfast choices were outstanding, had dinner and food was great but pricey.

Stayed at the Kolbe whilst sightseeing in Rome. Very clean hotel and a great breakfast on the terrace. Staff were very good apart from one guy on reception who we gave our postcards to to post, and he slung them on the side, needless to say that nobody we sent them to has received them so far! Maybe he was...

This was my first trip to Rome and my mom & I decided to book the Kolbe based on tripadvisor reviews and the location. Our first room was very small and not very clean. However, we did complain and we were moved the next day into a room that was a HUGE improvement and I would say improved our stay...

Great location near the Forum. Very clean rooms with friendly staff. For some reason I had a disabled room on the ground floor which meant the shower was weird but the room was huge.

The hotel is ideally situated away from the main roads and about 25 minutes walking distance from the Colloseum; 20 minutes from Trevi Fountain; 10 minutes from the Spanish Steps and major bus routes. The Vatican is best visited by bus or Metro. Although we were initially provided the wrong room, we were immediately upgraded to a superior room as...

As somebody else said, an oasis of quiet near the center of the city. Lovely garden in the inside, try to get a room facing the very well maintained ground (the ones facing the road could be noisy). A very good choice.

Pros: Location, especially if you love the Forum and other ancient sites. Quiet. Interesting internal design. Friendly front desk -- especially Sara, the evening reception person who helped with our reservations and gave excellent tour and restaurant advice. One of our favorite restaurants during our entire trip was Sara's recommendation -- Sora Lella on the small island in the Tiber....

Absolutely loved this hotel. The most fantastic location down a quiet street directly overlooking the Roman Forum, so a short ten minute walk to the Colosseum. Lovely modern, clean rooms, fantastic choice for breakfast and professional friendly staff. Will always stay here if in Rome again.

What a wonderful place to arrive in when you are exhausted. This is a real hotel with a entrance on a quiet side street next to the Roman Forum, very professionally run, charming staff - with what may seem a bit spartan decor, however, it's perfect for relaxing into Rome. The rooms have big windows that let in fresh air...

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
