Beautiful grounds and a lovely hotel in the center of Rome. Super convenient to Vatican City. The public spaces are very well designed and modern. The room was quite nice with a partial view of St Peters. The bed was very, very firm. The gym is on the small side, but it was fine for getting things started. The breakfast...

This hotel was not convenient to restaurants and shopping in Rome. Our room was very odd. Light switches were not next to lamps or overhead fixtures. Sometimes they were in completely different rooms. I injured myself getting into the very awkward tub to take a shower. Nearly four weeks later I am still in constant pain. I am not alone...

My family stayed at the lovely Gran Melia Rome 2 years ago, and now recommend it to our friends and family. I tried to make reservations on line for a friend and made multiple mistakes. The Reservations Manager, Angela Fusco was so pleasant and corrected everything for me. It could have been a disaster, but she was wonderful! Many thanks...

The hotel has charm, elegance and class. From it's rooms to the Clarins Spa it's is worth every penny. The views are beautiful looking to the Vatican City, we had room looking over the resort to the city. The room was spacious and very clean, the extra touches from the red glove service, certainly made an impact. The advice given...

Some great staff who were so helpful and looked after us so well. The concierge service helped us with so many things and all the girls went out of their way. Great place to use as a base to explore Rome and more space than the tightly packed central hotels. Convenient for everything and we liked the restaurants in Travessera.

Luxurious hotel close to the center of Rome and minutes away from the Vatican. Beautiful gardens and pool, the perfect escape after a grueling day sightseeing and you are in the center of Rome (at the base of the Gianicolo on the Vatican side) - excellent service and luxurious rooms and bathrooms - one criticism is the inadequate air conditioning!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
